Zopiclone
Hi there i had a meeting with my Psychiatrist today and yet again she has changes all my meds. I was taking Lofepreamine but as it seems to have had no effect she has taken me off it. I am still taking a high dose of zyprexa to stabalise my mood. She has also given me a prescription for Zopiclone. I have been prescribed Zopiclone before by my Gp but just for the odd week here and there. I have heard that you can become dependent on Zopiclone and i am worried by this larger prescription. Does anyone here have any experiences with the drug (good or bad)? Was just wondering if i am right to be concerned, even though psych didnt think so.
Thanks
Shelley

I love zopiclone, pretty much the only thing that gets me to sleep the benzos don't work too great. It is addictive over time, in that you start to think you can't fall asleep without it, which is bad. Just be cautious when taking it and don't take it unless absolutely necessary. You're perfectly entitled to be concerned, you don't want the added problem of being dependant on it.

I've mentioned elsewhere here that if I need a night of respite from the rawness and such, I take a dose of zopiclone. Or if I've been not sleeping well and really need a decent night's sleep. I only take it at the most a couple of times a week, and at the lowest dose because I'm already on a sedative anti-depressant. But it works well for me.
No side effects, except sort of bad breath the next morning, but mouth wash and toothpaste sort that no problems. :)

Great for sleeping just the right amount of hours in my case, but I don't take them any more because they are addictive, and the Zyprexa gets me tired.
