Possibly Triggering - Art & Poems helped me to stop

I have been free from cutting for about three years now. But whilst I was cutting I found that art and writing poems helped me to control and eventually stop harming myself. I just wanted to share a few with you all, I'm not sure that they are any good but it helped me to write them anyway. Enjoy!!

My Tears
The painted smile upon my face,
Conceals a world within,
The shadow of my soul,
Watching, Waiting, for my film to begin.
My tears are vivid, they roll like a film,
Moulded from clay, condemned to the kiln.
My tears are vivid, grey clouds in the sky,
The rain cascades to the ground, flowing, like tears I cry.
My tears are echoes, forgotten in my mind,
Lost and empty, words undefined.
My tears are echoes, songs of the sea,
Whispers of the ocean,
The heart beating within me.
My tears are silent, they flow in my dreams
A childlike mirage, undone at the seams.
My tears are silent, they drown in my palm,
Falling into the cradle, of a long forgotten calm.
Time can fade the bruises, it can bleed the river dry,
But can it ever silence the pain, and wipe this tear from my eye? xPx 2005

My Life
My life is never what it seems,
In a world of reality,
There’s no room for dreams.
One door opens,
And another may close,
Who needs enemies,
When your friend is your foe.
Dreams are shattered,
Hearts are broken,
Harsh words about me,
Are often spoken.
I feel like failure,
Is there no hope for me,
For my future, black clouds,
Are all that I see.
In a world of sadness,
A world of love,
I begin to wonder,
Is there really a heaven above?
Bad things happen to me,
Time and time again,
This world is enough,
It’s driving me insane.
I can not escape,
From under this cloud of rain,
When will I feel happiness?
I’m tired of all this pain.
I only want to feel love,
I only want to be free.
You may think I am selfish,
People are suffering worse than me.
My life will never be,
A river of dreams,
For my life as I know it,
Is never what it seems.

Addressed to me
In your mind you are lost, in your heart you are hurt,
Some people are cruel and they treat you like dirt.
You want to get away, clear your mind,
Leave all your pain and sufferings behind.
You want to be free, fly away from this place,
In the mirror all you see, is a messed up face.
There’s a whole lot of pain,inside of you,
You feel alone and trapped. What can you do?
You find a way to cope, it’s the way you deal best,
Does it matter to be different from the rest?
You harm yourself, to ease the pain,
Nobody understands, they think you're insane.
You think it’s your fault you can’t ease the pain,
Please dry those tears, you're not to blame.
Your ashamed of yourself, too proud to talk,
The road to happiness, is a life long walk.
You feel so lonely, you’ve had enough,
But don’t give in, you must be tough.
Your life is but a journey,to where you do not know,
Relax, be happy, just take things slow.
When you're feeling trapped and you want to escape to another land,
Put that piece of glass down and put a pen in your hand.
If any body says your ugly, they really have lied,
For today I heard the news that we’re all beautiful inside.

Thank you all, I felt a bit daft for posting them but yeah, glad you like them. I haven't posted any art work as yet but I may do very soon.
