risperidone anyone?

Along with my antidepressant cipralex, they also gave me risperidone.anyone know about it??what are the possible side effects?

I've been on risperidone, anything from 0.5mg up to 4mg. It really helped but the side-effects for me were muscle twitches and blurred vision when I went about 2mg per day.

they only gave me 0.5 mg a day.is it for schizophrenia?i don't have schizophrenia!!

is constipation a side effect?

It's an anti-psychotic, but can be used to help with anxiety in lower doses, as far as I'm aware.

I'm on 2mg a day. It helps with agitation and thoughts of self harm/suicide (well at least thats what its supposed to do with me). I take 1mg at night and 1mg at morning.

I've been on it for a year and a bit now and yeah I suppose its helped, it helps me sleep in the night when I get the most thoughts, and I'm on my 10th month of not SIing (through hard work too though). I suppose its like most medication though, if you really dont want it to work it wont work properly. I did have some side effects where my eyes kept wandering to the top of the room but it only happened for about ten minutes each time and it stopped happening after about a few months, when my body started to get used to the medication.

it can take a couple of months for the side effects to disappear??were you on any other meds?

I was giving it to make me talk and be able to open up more and talk about my self harm/life and also to help with my sleep. It made me like a zombie and I basically lost all concept of time, it started running really slow. While I was on it my hands constantly shook even more so than they used to. I was extremely glad when I got taken off it as it never helped at all. It did make me sleep more but is caused me to have bouts of sleep paralysis which was mega scary. It never made me talk. My aunt found the same thing when she was taking it.

I was prescribed 2mg a day, and for the first week, my eyes couldn`t concertrate on things properly like reading a book, and Ifelt a bit flued up, but that went away within a week, but it just spaced me out too much and I ended up comming of it and going onto olanzapine.

Its like when you wake up(yet your still asleep) but you cant move, its like being paralysed and you can experience really weird things, although everytime it happened to me it was someone either crushing my chest or tryin to strangle me. Its really can be a **** scary thing and like in this state it can last for a while but when you finally wake up you realise it was only like 1/2 mins. I sometimes get it without being on medication but risperidone made it way worse and I was getting it like 4 nights in a row.

Can't remember what I started on but it made me lactate so I came off it within a week.

Ive been on it for well over a year and I find that is helps me sleep and reduces anxiety. The only side effect is that it stops my periods.
