I am currently:
Microsoft office

I'm considering buying this. I have used on my Dad's computers but haven't got it on my laptop but before I get it I'm just wanting to ask:

Can you have it on 2 computers at once if there are 2 computers in your house?

If your computer or in my case laptop needs replacing can I stop using it on my current laptop and start using it on the replacement?

thank you

you cant have it on 2 computers using the same software unless you have a volume license agreement. Basically you won't, if you buy it "off the shelf"

one piece of software is ONLY for that computer and no other. It's "Married" to that computer.

if you want to use that software but only at 1 computer/laptop at a time then yes you can do it however you need to phone up the support number so they can transfer over the license to the new computer/laptop.

You can't (legally) use it on two computers at once unless you buy a more expensive license that allows for multiple computers, but as long as you're using it on only one computer at a time you can transfer it from one computer to another. I don't know how it works in Windows, but for the Mac version, it just checks to see if there are any other computers on your local network running any Office software using the same license, so all you have to do to transfer the license to a different computer is to just stop using it on the first computer.

Incidentally, in the Mac version I have (not the most recent one), the security software is slightly broken, so it says there's another computer using the same license even if there's actually not, but there's also a really simple way to get around its license thing so it can't tell if other computers are using it.
