Amisulpride/medication questions/advice please/*safe I think

I am on Amisulpride 200mg in the morning and 200mg at night for Paranoid Schizophrenia. I think it needs to be raised for my distress related to the schizophrenia at the moment but I don't know when I am seeing my psychiatrist next and obviously can't call untill Monday when I can speak to someone in his office.

• What doseage are you on and do you find it helps your symptoms (what are your symptoms)?

• I have been on Amisulpride for three years almost, will this cause me any long term side effects? What side effects does it give to those of you who take it?

I think it helps me but I need to have it raised I think because I feel that I am currently in a bit more distress and confusion. Which is related to my illness. That's what my CAMHS psychiatrist said anyway. That it'll help calm me down.

Just wondering what you think of the medication and what it does for you/hasn't done for you?

I know a side effect for me was amhorrea (sp?) where your periods stop, and I was told a long term side effect would be infertility, but I think they would have told you if that was likely to happen (I imagine you would need v high doses for v long time). But check it out. Do you have any prn medication? Could you ring the crises line and ask if you could take extra amisulpiride to get you through the weekend.

I get that too. Periods stopping I mean. I have ever since I was on Amisulpride. I hardly ever get them now.

I have been given the number for Saneline by my CPN, is that what you mean?

I think there is a crises line for every area, not saneline, but something run by your local hospital where they can see your notes on the computer, that's what we have here. If you ring your CMHT, I know no one will be there, but the answerphone message might give you an emergency number.

*calls the cmht to check their answerphone* I tried to call the crisis team last time but they said I wasn't on their list and to call samaritans but I have had bad experiences with samaritans.
