He left the water on?

Hello... I am fairly new to RYL and have never posted in vets before. But yesterday something so rediculous happened that i just have to share it with someone. so i would like to say hi and share a story....

Wednesday morning I noticed a large puddle of water along the inside wall in my appartment. Thankfuly, I have concreat floors. The water was seaping in from under the wall that I share with the neighboring apartment (i live in a corner apartment). However, the apartment next to me is vacant. Hmmm...

Once I got the water cleaned up (it took many many towels) I went to the office to tell them of the problem. They promptly put a work order in to the maintence crew and I left for work as I was already late.

Upon my return home, there was still water. I cleaned it up again and about ten minutes later, it was still leaking in. So,I went back to the office and asked if they knew anything about the water situation from earlier that morning.

now for the good part:
They told me that the guy in the opposite corner (four doors down) turned his shower on the night before and while he was letting the water warm up he fell asleep! Now, how drunk do you have to be to pass out inbetween the time you turn on the water and the time you get in?! Not only that, but if the water filtered all the way down to my apartment, his had to be... I don't know, 3, 4, ... inches of standing water at least! How do you sleep through that... you would float away!

I am still amazed... I laugh everytime I tell someone although it wasn't funny last night when I was washing an endless cycle of towels so I could soak up the water. I just have all these crazy situations running through my mind of how it could have happened and it just makes me laugh!

Anyway, sorry it's so long, but hi!

Poor guy. At least you have maintainence on sight.

We had a roof/ceiling leak Christmas week in our condo. My husband poked holes in the ceiling so the water could drain out. He also went up into the crawl space to remove soggy insulation. Fortunately the leak was over the shower. Three calls to the property management company later, the roofer came out and patched the patch.
Now since it is the fault of the association, we need to phone property management again to get our ceiling fixed. We had the bathroom painted not very long ago.

So that's my sympathetic story. It is nothing like what you went through though.

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

haha yeah that's funny
last winter out pipes froze, and burst and flooded our kitchen
we had to have the maintenance people in our complex come and remove all of our cabinets to get to the broken pipes to repair them
for some reason, the person who lived here before us thought it would be a good idea to put heated electrical tape with the wires in it around the pipes, and then surround them with flammable insulation to keep the pipes from freezing
not only did it not work, as the pipes did freeze, but it caused a fire because the heated tape sparked up and caught the insulation on fire
when the maintenance crew took off the cabinets to get at the pipes, the insulation burst into flame
so we had a flooded kitchen, burst pipes, and a fire lol
it wasn't major, all the insulation had to be replaced but that was about it
the bad part was the whole no-water-for-two-days and having to shower at my friend's place across town

yeah that story isnt as funny but i felt like sharing :)

welcome to vets!!

It is good to hear from you all and thank you for you're warm welcome. I have only one thing to say: Plumbing problems suck! *Go to haties plumbing problems*

Aren't people funny... I always think... why on earth would someone do that, but i'm sure that someone has said that about me before. I know someone who always tells me the funny thing of the week, but I think I have her beat this week. Someone told me I should put a note on his door in the morning that says "is the water off?" lol

poor guy... but really... it flooded four apartments!
