my poor grandma :( (update R.I.P)

She's on her last legs, as they say. Shes 87 years old so shes had a very long happy life, I know that she is very tired and has had enough but its very sad. Shes currently in hospital and is mostly unconscious and its just a matter of time though I dont know how much time. It's weird, ive made it to 24 years old with every member of my family still around, Ive never had to deal with something like this before, its all very strange...

thanks, yeah she taught me how to knit and crochet, she taught me how to make paper dolls - you know the ones that you cut out of newspaper and they are all in a row. She also used to make a nativity scene at christmas and we made all of the characters out of those wooden clothes pegs with the round bits at the top, i hope they still make those, maybe il do that with my kids one day! Its nice to remember stuff like that...

i'm crying right now actually because about 3 years ago my grandma suddenly took a turn for the worse and passed away
it was awful awful and so sad and i cried for like 4 days straight to the point that my cheeks stung and were red for a week from the salty tears
your story reminded me of it because my grandma had made peace and was ready to go, she didn't want to linger, but somehow i had a hard time accepting her wishes and was only able to focus on what it meant to me, that i would me minus one grandma
try to hold on to your memories and the good times that you have, and even though it probably seems empty now, try to take solace in the fact that your grandma is one of the lucky few who gets to pass on her own terms, at the end of a long and good life, when she is ready for it - that is a rare and beautiful and lucky thing

She died at 2am almost exactly. We had been with her all day, everyone got a chance to say goodbye. At 1.45am she deteriorated quite a bit so we gave my grandad some time alone with her, then at about 1.55am we all (me, my mum and my aunties and uncle) went in and we said her favourite prayer and the lords prayer and then she died. It was very peaceful and I hope I get to die an old lady warm in my bed with all my family around the way she did!

i am so sorry for your loss but i am so grateful for you that you have your whole family there and that she was able to hold on for you all to get there and be together
you know, i bet she was waiting so that she could say goodbye to everybody and be at peace
