My love-kitten, Odin, is missing! This is day three now. We searched for him alllll over today, calling for him and we found nothing. just some chickens in the road.
I can't lose another kitty this soon! We got him and his buddy because we lost our last cat...
Does anyone have any tips on finding an animal???? Please???? I can't lose him forever, we HAVE to find him! I love my baby kitty!

This is the second time you lost your cat? How does this happen?
I'd put up posters and maybe inform your local petshops/ vets/ pet shelters that you've lost your pet.
Yeah, we live in a very foresty area, so it's easy to get lost. :( And supposedly there are a lot of coyotes.
^^ Yeah, one time one of my other cats left for ten days (after yet ANOTHER cat had disappeared) but he came back! I'm hopeful, but very sad.
Aww hope he comes back soon. How old is he, cause maybe if he's a older kitten he mite have gone out to find some girl cats (if he hasn't been doctored that is)? My cat used to go for a few days, then be back on the doorstep in the morning.

Do what aphelion said, call the vets, pet shop, animal shelters in the area. Put up posters. Don't know other advice besides that. I sometimes think some cats aren't supposed to be owned by humans. I had a friend once who's cat ran away and was missing for monthes. One day I saw it and it was skinnier than it was when it got lost, but it wouldn't come near me and ran back into the woods cause I guess that was the life he wanted to lead. If he doesn't come back then try not to be sad.
He's not even a year old yet. Not sure exactly how many months...
I'm hoping it's just his young-male-cat-exploration-time. But he's not that smart, and he's freakishly cute, so I'm afraid someone's found him and taken him in. Grrr. We're going to pass out flyers to our neighbors...
He might come back, I've heard of a lot of cats going for much longer than 3days. A lot are fed by someone else in the neighbourhood too and eventually end up having two owners so maybe ask around and see if anyone else knows about his whereabouts. Cats do live surprising well on there own as they have very strong hunting insticts and if you live near a wood there'll be plenty for him to catch.
It might be a good idea if you put notices up and inform the local vets/ sanctuary's as they keep records of these things and the local pet shop so they can tell you if they've heard anything/ put a notice in the window.
When you get him back it may be a good idea to get him microchipped so that if he is ever on the run again and gets found then they can instantly track him back down to you. If he isn't already, get him castrated too, that will reduce the amount they tend to wander (as they won't have the hormones to go and find a mate).

the problem is that when animals go outside they don't always recognise the house from the outside and find it difficult to work out which one is theres, could you leave some of his toys or blankets etc outside so that it smells of him?

I have had friends who had cats go away and come back. When I was a kid we had one cat disappear 2 days before a small earthquake. I always watch the buggers now. When the tidal wave hit in the pacific hardly any animals died because they knew it was coming.
I don't know if he's microchipped. If you've had him since he was a kitten then it's more than likely that if he's been done you would have taken him for that (though some very good breeders do it was the same time as 1st vaccinations) and WOULD have a record. If you got him from a shelter/sanctuary then they usually get them microchipped themselves (unless it is one that puts them to sleep after they are there for 2 weeks), in which case you should still be given the records.
Microchips are great. They are a little computer corresponder about the size of a grain of rice and are placed under the skin. When scanned (and all vets/ police stations/ dog wardens/ animal sanctuarys have scanners) it comes up with its own unique ID code which can be found on a national database which locates the animal to you. They cause little pain when first given but are worth it and cost around £20 (maybe US$40). They sometimes move but people using the scanner know that so don't just tend to look where they are usually placed (back of the neck in dogs/cats) rarely break and rarely case problems (I have seen many dogs with them and only 1 reaction). They are definately worth it when you get him back and if you get another and that goes out for everyone with dogs/cats/horses/birds/tortoises..!
he should be alright, dont worry, phone all the local vets and stuff and leave food out,
flyers are good :) put them EVERYWHERE
bus stops, train stations, lamposts, notice boards, in cabs, underneath windscreen wipers, and perhaps if you have a few local shops you could ask them to put one in the window for you
my cat went missing for a week once :( she was stuck in my neighbours' basement.. so look in the neighbours' basements? also try the sheds and stuff, you never know
other than that just keep en eye out
