Wisdom teeth. Eep.

Maybe you remember I posted a topic about how I'm having corrective surgery for an overbite.....
Well I went to the orthodontist on Monday...and it turns out now I have to have my wisdom teeth removed.

To be frank, the though doesn't fill me with joy...so.....any experience?
Or just say anything?

Meep. Just a smidge scared, I think...

My friend had it done.
It was apparently painful for about a week after, but in the end she was in less pain than she was before they came out. So overall good (Y)

Good luck.

Had her wisdom teeth already come through?
Like....mine are still in my gums or whatever, and they had to x-ray to see if I actually had them..

ALso...did she have local or general anaesthetic?

I've had that done too!

I had it done under general anaesthetic, and went home a few hours later. Hurts for a while, and eating is hard for a while, but it wasn't too bad.

Would you be allowed someone in with you so you could squeeze their hand?

Hey

I had my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago, and i was fine, i had a conscious sedation (where they make you drowsy and cover your eyes), i had two teeth out, top and bottom from the right hand side, everyone kept telling me how much it swelled up and how painful it was, well i think i was really lucky, i had them out on the We pm and was back at work the next day.

But i think it depends on the size of your mouth. I didn't have any stitches or bruising or swelling only a lil bit of bleeding.

Hope this makes you feel a bit better!

Good Luck

I had my taken out when I was 17 and they were embedded. I was put underwith anaesthesia. The first day or two I was fine because I was so out of it. Afterwards it was sore, but it wasn't too bad. I think you will be just fine. Good luck, hun!

My sister had hers out a few years back under general anesthetic. It made her throw up a lot and she was in a lot of pain.

I was supposed to get mine out a few months ago but ended up having emergency kidney surgery instead. So now I've got an appointment coming up to talk to my dentist again about them. I had x-rays done and they are growing in under my other teeth pretty much, which just makes doing anything involving my teeth painful.

It is a crappy experience, but in the long run it will be for the best.

I had braces and had four wisdom teeth pulle out, two up, two down. the only part of it that hurt was the part where they shoved the needle into my gums. and if you ask the nurse will hold you hand for that. and laugh a little behind your back.
one thing they don't tell you though is that your gums may bleed a little for up to a couple of weeks afterwards. so be prepared to find small sacs of clotted blood in your mouth when you wake up. might sound confusing, as well as distusting, but you'll know them when you wake up with them. and for gods sake, don't swallow them; you'll feel sick for hours.

didn't mean to freak you out. the only thing that hurts is the needle in the gums

Awh. Sorry to hear that Luce. I feel your pain I really do. :\

It’s not always that easy to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys,
Sinners can surprise you and the same is true for saints.
Why do we try to define people with simply good or simply evil?
Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart and that anyone is capable of anything.
