Can choking cause damage?

My question is.. can being choked cause damage to your throat internally?

Only, the day after having two thumbs pressed into my windpipe I woke up with a sore throat, two days later I lost my voice and then the next day I contracted bronchitis.

I'm asthmatic already, and am prone to chest infections as it is. I'm taking good old Amoxicillin now, but I'm just a little concerned about the feeling I'm getting in my throat. It's like I'm just constantly being throttled, coughing doesn't help, nothing clears it away. Plus my nose is blocked..

The short anwser is yes, it can cause internal damage. The pressure can cause bruising, which can lead to swelling. This can lead to voice hoarsness, and difficulty breathing.

However, being choked won't lead to a chest infection, so in your case, there isn't a relation.

... I would try to avoid being choked again.

But yeah, as said above, it wouldn't cause infection. But it would probably cause a sore throat!
