I feel like i'm such a failure. I was doing my GCSE english again. And if doing my gsce again when i'm 24 isn't bad enough, i failed. All the coursework had to be in last wednesday, my teacher gave me an extention. Friday. I couldn't do it. The last piece of coursework, an essay on a book we read. I couldn't write an essay about a stupid book. So now i can't be entered for the exam.
I've applied to go to university, i have all the qualifications needed. I did an access course a few years ago. I just needed to resit my GCSE english and maths because i need them if i want to become a teacher. So i'll have to try the GCSE english and maths whilst doing my degree.
If i can't even complete a gcse course, how the hell am i going to get through 3 years of uni. I can't drop out again, i did that last year. I started uni in 2006 and because of my depression i left the course, and now i owe about £8000. If i drop out again i'll be about £15,000+ in dept for nothing.
I don't know if i can do it, and now i'm scared to even try.
It may well be possible to get an extension on medical grounds, so see your GP tomorrow and get a letter. If that doesn't leave you enough time, or you are too stressed to do the work, it is almost certainly possible to get graded on the basis of your other work. Speak to your teacher tomorrow too - tell them about the depression, stress and an other relevant circumstances.
i can't get anymore time. my teacher needs to mark the coursework, and then sit down with all the other english teachers and go through everyones coursework. if 1 bit of coursework is missing you can't be entered for the exam. and there is no time left for me to hand it in before the marking etc.
thank you. i know not completing the GCSE now isn't the end of the world. i know i can do it along side the degree, which is what i'm planning to do. i just sometimes get panicky and down on myself.
^^ Definitely approach your teacher. Exam boards always allow for extenuating circumstances, so do spaek to someone. If you can't take the exam in June resits are usually in November, so you could take it then. It's by no means a lost cause.
If your finding the GCSE programme tough why not look in to alternatives. I took my GCSE maths 5 times and failed, I also wanted to do a PGCE so I contacted the uni about my maths grade, they reccommended I did numeracy L2 instaed of GCSE maths, I did it and passed (it was loads easier and in modular form) and now I've been a teacher for two years!! If you want it bad enough you'll get it don't give up on yourself xx

I've been offered a place in university. Great right. But it's conditional on me getting a C on the GCSE exam. Since i can't be entered for the exam, that obviously isn't gonna happen.
Hi, I just read your latest post and wanted to tell you not to give up yet!!! I've had a good old think and mooched some further advice from fellow teachers and we all hope this will help. Please give these suggestions a shot! This IS fixable!! Dont give up!!
1) Still contact your teacher on your GCSE programme. You may be able to get a late entry to the exam, or be entered for the November resit, but if you don't ask them it wont happen so please, please do just drop them an email/ring them/pop in to see them.
2) Phone the University admissions office (the number should be on the letter they have sent you). Tell them about what is happening with your GCSE. If you're taking it in June or November we're pretty much 100% certain the Uni will still snap you up! If you've tried to get entered for the exam but can't explain to Uni what has happened and make sure they know you are willing to take the GCSE again, whilst you study.
3) Uni's are a lot more flexible than you think, and they will probably offer you the chance to study with them despite the hiccup. Uni and your GCSE tutor might ask you to get a note from the Doctor to vallidate any action they take to assist you, this information is needed so they can help you, not for any other reason.
Please remember your GCSE teacher and your Uni WILL be approachable, and you certainly WONT be the first student to have suffered a similar problem, but no-one can help you if they don't know what's going on so PLEASE talk to them. This is a long way from being a lost cause.

I did 'An inspector calls', brighton rock, macbeth, and that poem with the albatross? My favorite was Macbeth.
'eye of newt, toe of frog' cackle cackle x
Fed up of deceit and lonely skies. Bring back the rainbows in my eyes.
When i did GCSE in secondary school we did macbeth aswell, we had to write an essay on who was to blame for the death of king duncan. we also did the albatross poem.
I finished the essay, and i've emailed it to my tutor. So i'm still on the course, i haven't failed. Now i just have to get at least a C in the english language exam.
I've bought study books for english gcse, so that should help me pass. The first time i did my english gsce i got a D. So i should hopefully get at least a C this time.
