Well since 123flashchat (the one before last) started packing up, and we had to swiftly move to flashchat (the one we've had for the last few weeks) chat has been a nightmare of reliability issues and bugs and problems.
Well I am glad to annouce an end to most, if not all of our worries!
RYL has now lauched it's new, and much improved chat system!
Simply click the Chat link at the top as per usual and you will find thing have changed!
And rather than just me and James and the team to thank - our moving to a vastly improved chat server is really down to the extremely kind donation for a new chat from Ann, Cheyanne2311.
This chat was not at all cheap, but is a totally new and much improved way of it working - and it should/will see an end to slow annoying chat that doesn't work when you need it to.
The chat is a fair bit simplier, both to use and in terms of silly options and colours. The point is it works, and during testing I have found, along with the chat mods, that this chat is a real joy to use - it's easy, fast and makes chatting a lot more fun than we have been used to for a while on RYL!
So huge thanks once again goes out to Ann, Cheyanne2311 - and to James who installed it, and to the Chat Mods who helped me test it and get everything ready.

Harley. Don't get me wrong... I'm pretty smashed, so that explains why I'm even addressing you. But honestly, I think you put way tooo much time into improving chat. It's changed -so- many times since I've been a member with RYL and I can seriously say that the only thing I've wanted from it, and I'm sure pretty much everyone else is the same, is just to converse with people.
:) Stop trying to obtain the perfect chat! You're putting yourself under unnecessary hassle for our sake :D Just go have a pint! Preferably a cold one.

Nah I'm not really an alcoholic. I'm just screwing around. I was given a couple of bottles of alcohol for my 18th and figured I'd show my friends how much I love the presents :P
The only chat that I want for RYL is one that works!
Despite a few members having issues, which are just teething issues we need to iron out with the company that wrote the chat server software - this chat is working very well indeed. Once we sort these few niggles (for example if you have a *, ~ or ' in your name you will have trouble) I am confident that we will never need to change chat again - and a damn good thing for it.
But if a chat is randomly giving people mod powers, then breaks entirely and wont even show names, keeps coming up null everywhere - it's time for it to go.
So both changes have been forced upon us, but the whole point of all this work is so that it doesnt have to ever happen again - or at least not for a long time.
The blank blue screen problem is the one that is cooking my noodle most at the moment - but I am waiting on a response from the company and will let you know as soon as possible.
