Ketamine

Hi I was just wondering if anyone knew if there are any serious dangers with taking ketamine while on an ssri anti-depressant?

Hey Claire!

Although I dont have any personal experience with Ketamine, from the information I've read, it appears that taking ketamine is seriously dangerous even if you dont have any other substances in your body, so I could only assume that if you take ketamine while you have another medication in your system, then it would put extra strain on the major bodily organs.

Maybe someone else at RYL may be able to help you with this, but I think that if you have any doubts, then dont do it!

Ket's not a good choice for anyone with depression, on SSRIs or not. It can mess with your head pretty badly. In large doses it's one of the most intense hallucinagens known to man, way above the intensity of LSD and such drugs.

But yeah, it's notorious for mixing badly with other chemicals, even alchohol + ketamine has been known to be lethal. Be VERY careful.

I presume I would not be allowed to post an old BBC link about the effects of Ket and depression, as it doesn't show ket in a totally negative light, and I presume we're going for "drugs are BAD" not the truth..?

Wake me up before I change again
Remind me the story that I won't get insane
Tell me why it's always the same
Explain me the reason why I'm so much in pain.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'm just wary of drugs, especially ones I havent taken before, since starting on anti depressants. I know the effects of the drug but was wondering whether I should be extra careful now I'm on medication.
I think it's getting into shady territory when you start to discuss whether certain drugs are good or bad-I don't want to break the rules!-I think we can all make our own judgement on that I just wanted to know if there were any extra dangers.
Thanks again for everyones advice!
