Triggering (SI/ED) - feeling very alone
Hi, I`m new on this site but am feeling very alone at the moment and trying to deal with a lot of anxiety and feelings of wanting to self harm. I am trying very hard not to act on these feelings and to do something more positive but am running out of ideas, can anyone help? Kristy.

Heya,
I know it's hell when you're struggling with those feelings, well done that you are trying hard nto to act on them, that's a great step, to actually try to fight it and you should be proud of yourself. What has worked in the past? Could you listen to some positive happy music? Or do something to distract yourself?

Welcome!
What're you feeling anxious about? It can help to talk about what's happening some, it takes the weight of feeling off and can make things a little easier to bear.
I suffer from anxiety too - mainly severe social anxiety.

I`m mainly feeling anxious because I`m in my house on my own, and I find it so much harder to distract myself when I`m on my own, also my dads dying of cancer and I am trying so hard to be strong and supportive in front of him, but when I`m on my own I seem to fall apart, I just can`t imagine life without him. I am trying to listen to some of my happy music at the moment and it is helping a little.

What're you scared about when being in the house on your own?
I'm sorry to hear about your dad.
Music can really help. What're you listening to?

I`m listening to scissor sisters at the moment, I really don`t know why I feel so anxious on my own I think part of it is because there are no boundaries in my own house, so I know I can do whatever I feel like doing with no consequences to anyone else, and I don`t have the self belief that I can cope independantly

You've described how you feel very clearly. It sounds like you're feeling rather insecure and lost?

Yep thats about right I do feel very insecure and lost at the moment, I feel like I need someone to give me a hug and tell me everythings going to be ok, but I know that everything is not going to be ok and I am worried that I am not strong enough to deal with everything, I have spent so much time in hospital, that eventhough I don`t like it in a weird way I feel safe there. I suppose part of the problem is that I need to take responsibility for my own life and thats really scary, thanks for listening to me going onx

(((hugs you gently and protectively)))
I understand about the taking responsibility for your own life being scary. It's a constant work in process for me, I know.

It`s that everything seems such hard work doesn`t it? You just wish sometimes that just now and again something would be easy that wouldgive you the encouragement to keep going.
