we'll only do something if it requires no effort or we get a reward from it...

... well suposedly.

The news is stupidly patronising. Suposedly so many clothes get thrown away every year and we could recycle them instead of throwing them away and save the bloody world!!!! (sarcasm inserted for reading pleasure), well no this is what they said on the news.. But yes I spose we could, but people dont need rewards to do this, they just need places to recylcle their old clothes next to the place where they've recyled the weekly booze fest, I mean glass bottles.

ack, this patronising bull kinda gets old.

There are clothes and shoes recycling places at bottlebanks. Alos, you can take newspapers and magazine there. If clothes are still ok then take them to a charity shop. Its really quite easy to recycle things and everyone does need to do their bit to stop sending stuff to landfill.

Sometimes teh patronisation is needed if people are too lazy to get off there arses and recycle anyway? It's not that hard.

i throw stuff away about once every 4 years but whenever i do it gets taken to the charity shop or whatever.
though we always have to stop my dad going through the bags. it's ridiculous.especially if my brother throws clothes away cos my dad always thinks he can pull them off.
&it's like "chris is 17, yur almost 60.get a grip"

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.

CHarity shops ftw!
Probably 1/3 of my clothes are charity shop finds. The other 2/3rd are a mix of my sisters cast off and primark, I'm a cheap skate.
I don't think you need to reward people to recycle, just make it easier for them. For instance my grandparents get food waste, glass, carboard, newspaper and cans recycled from their doorstep, we just have a general waste bin. As students without a car, it's too far to walk to the nearest recycling centre, which is rubbish (no pun intended)

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination

That what I do :D

I went through one recently and found a couple of bags of mine my mother was throwing out. There was a tenner in one of them. I took the tenner, and the bag, back :]

We have black recycling boxes for pretty much everything (apart from clothes) that get picked up weekly the same as normal rubbish.
To recycle clothes it's a bit of a mish, it should be made easier.

My parents have become quite obsessed with recycling. I mean, I'm quite eco-friendly but if I accidentally throw a juice carton into the bin my dad will start switching at me telling me THIS CAN BE RECYCLED! Good man. To be fair, I don't mind this constant nagging. Maybe the sceptics are right, maybe there is no global issue, maybe this, maybe that. That doesn't mean we have a responsibility to clean up after the mess we make. And people must be reminded of that.
Media is the most powerful tool we posses it seems.

People don't need a ****ing reward for recycling, they just need to get a sense of bloody responsibility towards their actions.

truesay.

i recycle.. sometimes.
i never throw away any clothes (apart from socks with holes in). my mum recycles all our plastic milk bottles and that.
i don't really care too much. i mean, recycling isn't that much effort. i usually do it if i can be bothered. but i'm not all crazy about it though.

i would really reallyyyy urge people to send their old (good) clothes to charity shops though. most shops look like they have too many donations, but i mean, in my shop, we have to throw away 3/4 bags of clothes because they're just s'hit.

take what you love
burn it down.

this is actually true of the majority if not all of us. everything is selfishly motivated, if it involves effort we only do it if there is a reward in sight, e.g a material possession of some sort, a feeling of self fulfillment/ satisfication, or reassurance that you are a good/exciting/conscientious/whatever person.
