hey just popping in to check this thread. i bought Georgie a teddy today, she had a teddy 'thing' where when she was ill and needed treatment, or had to go to hospital (even for a checkup) or when she had something like a test at school.... she got a teddy. So i bought a cute teddy with hearts on him.
my mum went to see Georgie and gave her a kiss off me. She said the family are surprisingly calm, but we think that is because they have had so much time to get used to it, Georgie's mum already know what she wants for a funeral, but has been struggling to find a place she likes.
She didn't want Georgie to be embalmed because she felt that her baby had been messed with enough with all the operations and treatment she had in the last year. She didn't like the sound of a cold slab - or the way the undertake said about it - so she is trying to keep Georgie at home, with all the heating off and an industrial chiller in the room. She wants her to be surrounded by her teddies, tucked up in bed like she was when she died, not alone in a cold room devoid of emotions.
The undertakers weren't very sympathetic and upset her mother quite badly, when she rang up and told them she was going to do it herself she said it was like speaking to a different man.
She is buying an eco-friendly coffin to lay Georgie in, she is going out in style in a pink limo (whenever she had treats they booked a pink limo from a local man - she loved it in there) and will be buried with her favourite teddy.
Thanks for the compassion, im feeling a bit better today - but i've kept myself busy. no doubt the tears will come when i can't sleep later on tonight and get to thinking.
love to all, mand x

just a quick update, i'm not feeling too bad - i don't know if anything will suddenly hit me... or if the way Georgie handled knowing she was going to die has had a huge impact on the way we are all grieving. She ultimatley said she wasn't scared, she would be happy to meet God and that she would start planning the mother of all parties for when we were all back together again.
Georgie's mom has rung back the undertakers and they've come to an arrangement, Georgie can go on the cold slab but be surrounded by her teddies and covered in her duvet, so she'll just look asleep. She is going tomorrow.

I am so sorry foryour loss manda. It sound like she had a lot of loving family and frieds around her and that makes all the difference. Stay strong chick x
thanks Sharlie. the funeral is a week on friday. i miss her in a wierd kind of way. she lived only 5mins up the road, but i hardly saw her. her mum was quite closed after Georgie began to get really ill, and Georgie could never manage much more than half hour visits on a good day... i suppose i never bothered to ring to find out if i could visit... i felt awkward because i hardly know her mum.
i miss knowing that i'll never see her again... never have the chance to be bothered... she was such a gorgeous girl. never stopped smiling. mand x
