i haven't but my best friend has and i can honestly say its the best thing especially if your unsafe generally secure units have more staff and less patients then in an open unit i mean be prepared there will be patients who are extramally unwell and will at times kick off and be rude or upsetting but i think if your psychiatrist believes you need it then i think its probably for the best
good luck hun and remember if you ever need to talk or support i am here for you ok
im sorry ive never been on one but take care hunny.
i hope it helps.

When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you" you were carried out of are lifes into the next and when its my time to leave this life I know i will be carried into the next life with you.

Would it be an adolescent or adult, male/female or mixed one? I know they're very, very strict on safety, like I know of places that won't allow you to wear your glasses. I think as always it will depend on the staff and patients that are in.
Is there anything we can do to support you? Do you know when you're going in? You're welcome to pm me. Would you like letters/cards etc? I think buying box sets of dvds like buffy and such can really help get through the motonomy.
Aww, I was in an open unit... that was scay so I don't know what a secure on will be like. Take things that'll make you feel cumfy, like your own pillow/duvet (we were allowed where I was, best to make sure hunny though. A teddy and a couple of pictures to stick up on the wall (no frames obviously)
I'm sure you will be ok and it's the best for you hun.
As others have said I've heard the support is much more intense and rules are stricter in a secure unit, and that if you really need to be there it can provide a good safe structured enviroment while you get it together and work through things. random but i heard you werent allowed staples in magazines...

I know someone who was in Huntercombe, I believe she was in an adolescent ward, and I believe it was mixed, she was there for 5 months and didnt have anything bad to say about the place.
Secure hospitals are just stricter, often used by patients on a section of the mental health act, and hense a big danger to themselves, if they were a big danger to others, they would most likely be in a forensic unit or a high secure unit. As said there will be more staff and you can be looked after well in that respect, Im sure it will help, even if its nothing more than to keep you safe whilst your stuggling, psychs dont send people there unless they think there is a reasonable alturnative so I am sure they think its best and its the best way to help you get well again.
Take care, PM me anytime,, I hope it all goes ok xxx

Yeah I have been on one.I got signed in when I actually got sent to emergancy first and lasted on medcail ward for a day because of OD and then Got sent to it for a month. AT first you will be really scared because everything is new and it sucks and you will probley cry ( well if ur like me you will )..and then you kinda get used to it all and everyone and develpoe friends in the nurses. Its really safe there, their is nothing you can hram yourself with and there are alot of rules but only to help everyone stay safe. It will be hard but when the end comes to leave, You will be afarid to leave it because its so safe and artifical. But we do have to do it. And it hurts to leave a world you were so use to. BEST of luck and msg or w/e and let me know how you are doing okay <3

It will be ok. The staff there when I went were really kind and helpful. The ward is small, but its actually quite cosy, and you get larger rooms. The food is also much better than NHS food.
Good luck.
Stay strong.
