Twisted ankle help/advise please =)

Hey, I don't know if I should post this here or not, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

So last night I went out clubbing and got kinda drunk and I decided it'd be a good idea to play dance dance revolution... Well I kinda really badly twisted my ankle. The funny thing is I didn't twist it until *after* I had finished teh game and was putting my shoes back on. Well I kept dancing and walking on my ankle for like 2 more hours after it happened, and then when I got home I went straight to bed. Now I am in so much pain! It's not broken because I can move my toes and I can put some weight on it, but I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to it.

I'm currently sitting in bed with it elevated above my bum. It's just on a pillow. It's also got a packet of frozen peas sitting next to it. But I don't have any bandages so I can't wrap it up. But I have one of those tubey socks you get on the aeroplane. I put one of those on under my sock (because my feet are so cold).

Yeah, so is there anything else I can do to it? (my mum's phoning back in an hour and said she'd drive all the way to me, take me to the emergency room, then take me home with her if I need)

Thanks

Emma

RICE

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Ibuprofen and Tylenol will help with the pain and the swelling. You should get checked out by a doctor as you can tear your muscles and ligaments and have serious damage even without breaking it.

Good Luck!

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

Okay. Cool. I've RICE'd it the best I can without a bandage and I've just taken some ibuprofen and my mum is coming to get me and she's gonna take me to the emergency room... I think.

Thanks =)

I recomend support bandages [apmerican ace grip i think] I do this srt of thing alot of the time and a soon as you think you've done somthing put a support on before walking if you can.
Some times you have to support the other ankle too for taking strains up. Remeber to remove them overnight to let your circulation flow, also if you are restind then retpeat RICE, hope this is helpful.

you and i are going to have a love affair
and it won't work out but somewhere in the middle
god knows we tried

Thanks. All your advise has helped. I went to the doctor yesterday and she said it's just a sprain. She also gave me a referral to a physio if I need it. But I should be fine.
