SI Question - Ear.

Ok so i pierced my ears twice and also the back of my wrist with a very dirty sharp object,i did it about two weeks ago.Thankfully my wrist has gone down now, although its still very sore and red.
But my ears are still very swollen, and they bleed every time i take(or put back in) an ear stud out. They hurt so so much. And i've tried rubbing them with salty water and putting cream on it,but it seems to be worsening?
What should i do?

go and see you dr, you obviously have an infection where you pierced. You might want to think about taking the ear rings out as well and getting them pierced when they heal. If the object was dirty you may need a tetnus shot so go to your dr.

I agree with Mitch, go see your doctor or go to the emergency room. It seems that your ears are infected. Have them look at your wrist while you're there.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

first of all i need to correct you, taking the earring out will cause the infection to get trapped and may cause an absess which will lead to further complications.

When i have infected piercings i use warm sea salt soaks with a few drops of tea tree oil which helps clear in the infection 3 times a day and also hot compresses help bring out the crap within the piercing. If it hasnt started to clear up within a few days you need to go to a doctor as the infection may get serious and need antibiotics.

Piercing youself is not safe especially with dirty tools. If you want a piercing in the future, please go to a professional.paying the money is much better than getting a serious infection.

I have been told by many professional piercers who have had a health and hygiene course and also the First Aiders on this site have said the same thing when it comes to infected piercings. In this thread for example ~Aidey~ has stated that taking the jewellery out of the possible infected piercing is a bad thing to do.

Also using alcohol on healing piercing is a bad thing to do and is advised against by most if not all piercing websites, including the most known one which i cannot link here as it breaks many rules of RYL for its content but i have been told by the piercers that have given me my piercings that alcohol will damage the skin around the piercing and dry it out because it is too harsh. Also it irratates the piercing and makes the healing time much longer.

The piercing aftercare i gave above is what i have been using for years on my piercings and is the piercing aftercare suggested by piercers.I may not be medically trained but i know how to look after piercings without damaging them or myself.

Maybe it differs in different countries, but can i ask a question what are you given just after your ears have been pierced? I got my last peircing about 6 months ago and they gave me a bottle of meths to help clean it. Sorry just curious now.

If you got your ears done with a gun then that wasnt a great idea and also the cleaning liquid you are given is not going to help heal a piercing but prolong the healing period.sea salt soaks are the standard method all over the world for cleaning piercings.

If you got it done with a needle, then your piercer gives really bad aftercare advice.

I do not go to nasty piercers that use guns,my piercer gives out an aftercare sheet of what to do and what not to do inregards to a healing piercing.the aftercare sheet i am given covers the main points of aftercare, infection and if i had the time i would type out the leaflet i am given.

I have never been given alcohol for a piercing apart fromwhen i was young and stupid when i got my lobes done with a gun.If a piercer now gave me a liquid that contains alcohol i would run a mile away

^^ Jane speaks the truth about piercings.

Just wanted to add my own experience, I got a septum infection and got advised by a dodgy piercer to use savlon on it. That aggravated it worse and it swelled up then burst, ozzing smelly pus everywhere. A better piercer told me to heal it with teatree ad lavendar oil, which is much gentler. So yeah please don't use alcohol in your piercings, it's far too harsh and can really irritate them.

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination

impossibility, thank you for agreeing with what i had said.sorry to hear about your septum piercing but i am glad it is feeling better.i havent used lavender oil myself but that is something i will think about in the future.I bought some tree tea oil in holland and barrats which was on sale.septum piercings often smell anyways due to thematerial :)

just to confirm what jane said, i see a different piercer and their aftercare sheet also advises using sea salt soaks and tee tree oil.

also taking jewellery in and out of a newly pierced hole will aggravate it further, and remember to wash your hands before touching the piercing or you could introduce new bacteria.
