Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?

I've been wondering about it for a while, but I'd like to hear some more people's experiences with CBT before going to my doctor...

I've never been with a psych long enough to get a diagnosis, but I apparently show most signs of cyclothymia (mild bipolar), but I'm noticing there are so many things that I just don't react like... normal people about. I just seem to grossly overreact, and this is often what leads to me taking things out on myself... I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to react anymore and I just think I need help.

I know people say I'm basically a perfect candidate. I've had quite a traumatic experience a month ago, and I'm still a paranoid mess about it so maybe this can help with that too?

Thanks for any help or advice or experiences you can give x

CBT sounds like a good idea for part what you have described.
It is primarily based about changing the thought patterns that leads us to do what we do. Recognising the thoughts we have before and when we take things out on ourselves and working out a way to direct that to something more possitive and preventing such ideas.

It does not work for everyone, but those who find generally talking about things usually think that it is a great help.
Good luck.
