Being on hold is annoying... but apparently even 911 puts people on hold, so it could be worse (911 = emergency number in the US)

You have to wait about 4 hours to complain as well. BT are all round useless.

I can only agree there! One afternoon I spent the whole afternoon waiting to get through to them because they hadn't bothered to show up at my flat when planned to install my phoneline. So in the end I'd waited a whole day, grr

If i get put on hold i just hang up, because then i just get overly nervous about having to talk on the phone. gah.

yeah. talktalk are the worst.
one time, my brother spent a whole afternoon on hold from three different numbers.

the worst is when they keep you on hold for ages and ages, and then the line just goes dead.

take what you love
burn it down.

if i get left on hold for like more than a minute i get bored, decide the issue isnt that important anyway & hang up.

I roll over and hold on tightly, and whisper "If they want you, they're gonna have to fight me,"

being on hold does suck. but as i work in a call centre i also know what its like on the other end of the line...half the time we are on hold too trying to get information or things sorted. we are taught to use hold as little as possible, to keep people on the line and say im just going to do this, i will be a couple of mins. but some people really dont like that...some people start saying hello hello!?? and some people start bitching about you to whoever is next to them not realising that you can hear every word they say....
and then there is the people who give you a hard time about what hold music you have. then theres the people who get on your case about being passed to another department....as you can see im really looking forward to going to work tommorrow....

the only time being put on hold really, truly makes me homicidal is when the music they play is all choppy and inaudible. it's like, ****, i didn't call to listen to a radio that's been dropped in the sink and set to smooth jazz.

every time it happens i get a little closer to the edge.

well, i have sown untidy furrows 'cross my soul,
but I am still a coward,
content to see my garden grow so sweet & full
of someone else's flowers.

Being on hold is indeed a pain in the arse.
Although a better question.
Why watch derby county? =P

Virgin aren't too bad for it, they let you change the song to something you like.
Being on hold officially sucks, especially when you need to do something important and quick :(
