i have the biggest urge to cut its gone away for 3 weeks but ive recently promised someone that i wont cut anymore and its too hard does anyone know any good distractions? i dont know if i should try discussing how hard im finding it with the person ive promised.

im sorry to hear your finding it hard.
this may sound very stupid and like im outta my mind but when i have urges and for some reason im unable to SI i get my rat out or my rabbit out or stroke my dog or cat or go see my horse they just really seem to calm me down. you may not have any pets in which case this is a pointless post, sorry if you dont. and sorry if i sound really stupid but it kinda works for me.
hope you find something that works

hmm...good distractions...
i always find that drawing and painting and other arty things help.
that's if you wanna do something calm.
if you wanna do something crazy,
put on your favourite music and just sorta jump around to it.
dance your heart out!
and talking aaaaalways helps.
you deserve it my lovely

I also have a promise with one of my friends, and find it helps to talk to them and explain how you feel.

I also heard that drawing a butterfly on your arm in permanent marker helps. Name it someone who you really care about and wants you to stop (in this case, you could name it the person who you have the promise with) and each time you feel like harming, look at it. If you harm before the butterfly has washed away, then it has died. But don't get too upset about it, just draw another one and try again. Keep drawing them untill the hard times have gone, and you no longer feel like harming x
