hey.
this has the potential to be very long, so i apologise.

basicaly, im due to start uni in just over a month, and everything was going perfectly. but ive just been informed that in order to move in to my accommodation, i need to pay a deposit of nearly £1000.
I dont have that kind of money, at all.
With my wages even if i worked every hour i could i wouldnt be able to get that money.
I cant ask my parents for help as they dont have any money.
I cant borrow the money from anyone.

Im doing nursing training and as far as im aware im not entitled to a loan or anything on top of my bursary.

i dont want to defer my place. the thought of leaving home is what has been keeping me going, and ive been applying for this course for over 2 years and waiting and waiting to decide im sane enough... which i am now. ive ben self harm free for a year and have really made an effort and i dont want this to be the one thing that holds me back. /emo.


so... does anyone have a clue what i could do? or what help/options might be available?

Erk.... Are you sure your parents dont have ANY money? Or could you ask friends/grandparents/aunties/uncles etc

How much do you have saved already? Could you sell anything to raise more? I was going to suggest a bootsale but I doubt they'd have one anywhere when it's this cold.

Maybe you could talk to someone at the Uni or accomodation person - just explain to them that you don't have the money up front but you're willing to set up a direct debit for 'x' a month.

Or set up a PayPal account & beg every member to give you money!

But seriously - talk to them - the longer you leave it the harder it'll be to sort out

I cant get a student loan, because im getting a bursary from the NHS.

and, i dont really have any family, my parents are kind of poor and both my sisters are pregnant so any money the parents have is going on them.

i have saved about £300.. stupid i know, but i figured i was going to be skint for the next 3 years i might as well enjoy the money whilst i had it.

I have nothing to sell, except the laptop, but i need that for uni, and the laptop is on finance as it is so i will still be paying for it if i sell it.

I'll phone the accommodation lady on monday and see what she says.

if its uni accomidation you are in then the uni will sort it out for you, they arnt going to leave you with nowhere to go.

talk to the uni OR go to...the LEA or citizens advice,they all know what to do in these situations

I just found this....Student Loan top up – You may be entitled to a student loan to cover living costs as NHS bursaries are not intended to cover all maintenance requirements. This must be applied to through your Local Education Authority.

so id look into that.
