Talking to Manager.
Okay, So i just got a job today and the uniform is short sleeves. *freaks out*
How do i say to my manager that i NEED to wear long sleeves without telling then that i SI?
I dont particually want them to know that i SI etc. And i dont think wearing short sleeves is professional even if it was just scars. And not to mention the fact that its a food place and people dont need to see my arms just before they are going to eat.
Advice anyone?
HELP!!! I need to call them in like 9 hours.

Congrats on getting the job.
Maybe you could say that you have some skin condition or something that you're embaressed about people seeing?

Just say you would like to wear long sleeves, they cant impose on you to wear short ones if you dont want, just say you will happily buy and wear a plain white long sleave tee underneath the usual uniform. Also if they ask why say its a medical condition and you would rather not disclose it as it bears no relevance to your ability to do the job. That should shut them up, and congrats for getting a job, well done!!

I work fast food and we have short sleeved uniforms. When I had fresh cuts on my lower arms they gave me a sweatshirt part of the uniform to wear until they healed or told me to wear long sleeves under my work shirt. They said having open cuts visible on my arms was a health hazard, but they haven't said anything about just scars.

No need to lie at all, just say you have some disfiguring scars which you are self conscious about displaying. If they ask how you got them, politely but firmly respond that it is irrelevant how you got them.
