I was just wondering if anyone sees and or hears voices. How do you cope with them during an very distressing hallunicating episode ?

Also did medication help ? What meds have helped with you ?

Joanne

Hope this is Ok being here. I dont mean to offend if I have.

Hi and welcome :)

I used to hear voices and I still do sometimes however I've never heard proper words, always mumbling, like a radio not quite in tune. They have really been reduced though which I guess is due to my medication, I generally only hear them now when I'm anxious. I see things to (im guess that's what you mean) weird and totally random things like golden frogs and I see a lot of flags as well I don't know why, I think thats anxiety to and again my medication has helped. I have sensory problems though which are unrelated.

Medications!

Currently im on Effexor, Sodium Valproate, Topiromate and Seroquel.
Those are anti-depressants, anti-psychotics and mood-stabilisers.

There are lots of people on here with similar problems to you who will be able to give you more help than I can. Hope you're ok.
Take care

Aimee

I do see things, and have heard things in the past. The things i see most of the time seem to be distressing. And i feel really scared by them. I find walking away when i see things helps. Walking to a different room. Or praying. Or closing your eyes. Or touching something you know is real like a teddy or something.
I am on respirdal, ive been on it for over a year now, and since its been increased im finding its being quite helpful.

Hey, I hear voices and noises.

What can help, but you musn't give up if it doesn't the first time,it takes time, is listening to music on headphones an putting only one earphone in. Then repeat back the lyrics under your breath and try whilst focussing on something else at the same time.

Hearing voices is when your brain recognises thoughts as soundwaves or something (I'm not entirely convinced, it comes through my ears for me, and isn't always logical), but anyway this method diverts the brain signals. Whatever the reason is, with time it can help.

What can also help is wax ear plugs.

For paranoia try writing out evidence for and against.

Either way we're all here for you.

Medication has helped me, diazepam lowers the fear and paranoia and anxiety (but you can't take it very often as it's highly addictive), amisulpride helped me until they decided the side effects on my heart were too risky, now I am on abilify for them, as well as a cocktail of other meds for other things.

You're not alone, keep us updated.

Where troubles melt like lemon drops

Thanks everyone.

I feel a little bit better knowing that I'm not alone in this.

I get a few different types.

First, a girl Nikki has been around for around two years very full on. I can hear, see and sometimes feel her which makes all this even more real. Sometimes it can be positive but there are many times that they are negative.

Second, there a few voices that I can not understand what theyre saying, they get louder and louder then faster and faster. Which usually comes at night.

Thirdly, This only happens about once a week so I guess have that to be thankful for ! I feel all thses fingers touch me all over my body.

Joanne

I'm currently on 300mg Seroquel, 350mg Lamictal twice a day also have epelipsy and 100mg of Zoloft. But just started on Zoloft, so I guess I need to give it some time to work.

I have schizophrenia, I'm on geodon (an anti-pschotic) and it's helped a lot. I only get the occassional voice now, but they're not very nice voices.

i found qutiapine was useful for hallucinations, you are on quite a low dose though, I take 600mgs and that seemed to work. I also take lithium, sodium valporate and tripramine.

I have suffered with delusions and depression. I too have the mood swings ( and its not just hormonal) lol. go from really happy to really moody.
Please feel free PM me Would help, I have had to deal with hearing voices and they are so scary.Ive never been to GP about it, I either have a psychotic depression, schizotypal disorder or paranoid schizophrenia.

I have never seen things, but am deluded that there is someone in my house when Im alone :( , Do you hear voices too. The voices I hear are comprehensible, also have times when I misintepret sounds to be voices, and they really sound like someone is uttering something I can understand.
Big hugs.xxx
