Scars
Is it ok to show old scars?
Will people notice?
The farthest I've gotten so far is not wearing sleeves or covering them in gym and my language class.
What about other places?
Help!!!!!!!!!

When mine are all healed I tend to not cover them up. It is hard sometimes because some people do notice, but if you feel strong about them, then you should, and shouldn't take any flak because of it, If someone'd had chemo etc and lost their hair no one would expect them to cover them up.
At the end of the day they are, and will always be part of you, and if you are feeling quite comfortable about showng them this could really aid your healing, and acceptance.
I hope that doesn't sound all weird!

you don't.
You just have to realise that you're better than them, if they don't understand, it's not your problem!!!
You've got to do what you feel is right. When I first showed mine I got loads of funny looks and awkward questions, but people soon accept it and now I feel so much better knowing that I can get on with life without worrying what people think!
Whatever you chose don't stress!

if you dont mind people staring occasionally or the odd question about your scars every now and again dont worry about covering them, but if you cant deal with that yet then cover them up.
i dont mind when i'm around people i dont know and wont see ever again but other than that they will stay covered no matter how hot it is.

I find it can also really depend on how you scar.
Friends of mine have scars that are raised from the skin yet still a normal skin colour, so if you felt their scars you'd feel rasied bumps.
But if you're like me and scar under the skin at just a darker colour I find usually it's easier to hide them without anyone really noticing.
Obviously if they're on display alot it's different and alot more difficult to handle.
When I used to have to do gym in Secondary school I used to make up such stupid excuses like "my kittens are always scratching me"
But really if anyone asks I'll be blunt but lie and tell them I went through a self harm phase but I'm through it now.
Works for me.
Obviously it's a bit different when their newly cut.
Thaat I Just wear arm warmers, long jackets or shirts.
Hope this helped?
peace x
