*trig just incase... don't know what for*
I am happy and not self harming. Which is great. I love it. But I'm scared. I'm prone to these majourly dramatic mood swings which make me so low that I get suicidal and possibly self harm again. I'm scared because I like being happy and I want it to stay that way. I might ask my psych if he can put me on something for my mood because I am on antipsychotics and that don't seem to be helping much with my mood swings, if that's what they're called(???) I just feel out of control of my state of mind, like nothing I do can help it.

You might like to ask him about mood stabilisers. I've never been on them, but they do help some people.
It is possible to work with your feelings, tracking them and understanding any triggers for the mood swings. If you are scared of falling back down into a low state, do you know what triggers those feelings? What is it like 'there' in your mind? What lifts your mood and keeps it steady? Counselling or therapy can help stablising feelings. Are you getting any of that kind of support?

Yes, asking your psych about mood stablizers is a good idea.
It's really good that you're feelin happy and want to stay that way. That's a great start.
When was the last time you had one of these mood swings? As longing tears said is there anything which triggers them that you might be able to avoid?
I hope you manage to stay in the good place you are now,
Tabby

Yes - definitely talk to your doctor and see what he can do for you.
In the meantime, how do you usually feel before a low mood happens? When you feel one coming on, maybe you could tell a close friend that you think you're about to feel bad, and ask them to check on you. Then you're almost guaranteed support while feeling low and waiting for a change.
I'm glad that you're feeling happier these days. Maybe finding a 'middle ground' within your mind would help. Y'know, not too happy, not too sad, but just content. Aiming to stay super-extra-happy could rock the boat, and send you into the opposite end of the mood spectrum. Know that you aren't completely in control of your mind, but also have that safe zone to locate yourself in when things become rocky.
I hope the medication works out, and that you're able to come to terms with the mood swings you're having. Take care of yourself. :)

In the little book of happiness-which I sadly enough own. It says, "treasure the moment" make you sure, you spend you happiness livin' it to the full-try not to worry too much about the future.

Robyn is right, concentrate on being happy and enjoy it while it lasts. Don't think about your next mood swing- you never know, it may never come!
As the others have said, talking to your doctor is a good idea. I'm sure he'll be able to sort something out.
I'm so glad that you're feeling so good at the moment, I hope it stays that way for as long as possible.
Take care,
Tams xxx

I know what you mean, I get in similar situations. Be happy about being happy! lol
The others are right, talk to your doctor about it. It sounds as though you may be experiencing bipolar disorder. Medication only does so much though. Mood stabilisers really help some people whereas for others they just make things worse.

i think you should talk to your doctor like all of the other said. i get mood swings a lot and at the moment it has been suggested that i may have bipolar.
i have been told to keep a diary so it is easy to track your mood swings. im not saying you have it because im not a doctor im just saying that keeping a diary could help your doctor an aweful lot when it comes to deciding what route to take next.
take care and know im here if you want to chat.
feel free to pm me xx
