I was just wondering about the arcade... is it possible to every now and then erase the scores so that other people stand some chance of getting in the top 20? I don't know if this is already in place or not, but just a thought! Thanks!

There is a thing which allows members to delete their own scores.
Hopefully, we are going to set up somethng requesting members to delete all their own scores except for their top score.
This still needs to be sorted out a bit.
Does this answer your question?
The world is an interesting place when everyone you know has their own realities
Ok, with the arcade, everyone is asked to delete all by their highest high score, so that the highest possible number of people can get in the top 20.
Also, to be fair on members joining and starting playing the arcade months down the line, when the high scores are all but impossible to beat, all high scores are automatically reduced by 10% at the start of each month.
This is better than clearing the board, or deleting the top 5 or anything like that, and means that members have to fight to stay on top, and that everyone has a fair chance of getting the trophy in each game.
How does that sound? I have now updates the arcade page to make it clear.
Okay, thanks Harley! That sounds good - at least it gives other people a chance, but also allows the people at the top to try and hold on to the top spot. Thanks again!

i also agree with the person above.
i don't see WHY they have to be. yes, old members who play a lot will have i dont know, more experience [?] playing the games. &so therefore, may be a bit better.
but that hardly makes it unfair on newer members.
if someone is good at the game. they'll beat the highscorer. if they're not, they won't. &so, that highscorer deserves to be on top.
RYL is not a permanent thing, people are constantly coming and going and having high score boards filled with totally unachievable scores is unmotivating and no fun. I would prefer it if we had an all time top score thing too, but this way round there is continued and constant competition in the rankings, and an ever present chance of getting a top spot. This those who claim to be good at the games must defend their titles and those new to games (they would still obviously have to be really good, 10% reduction is small) have a shot and getting on the leaders list.
Thus the arade becomes a more constant distraction for members, rather than a 'play then get bored cos you don't have a chance' sort of thing.
I think if you're going to reduce scores, you should reduce them all.
Sayyyyy that there was a high score of 81730658 [I know it sounds ridiculous, but in pinball it's very much acheivable] and a 2nd score of 74153885 - which is just under 10% less. There's a huge difference between the two, and the second player clearly isn't better - but if you reduce only the top score by 10% then the lower score would be top.
I don't know if that made any sense, but I think if you're going to reduce the scores, do the same to them all, so that you're giving members a fair chance whilst still keeping the other scores in proportion.
i think reducing the scores is a good idea
cos i knwo this migth sound stupid
but like it adds to the list of things u fail at when u cant beat the top score no matter how hard u try
and i know its just a game
but oh well
that jsut sounds stupid doesnt it?
and i think it is more fun

Yeah Kaya, all scores are reduced, not just high scores - so rankings don't change, and it also means a good score putting someone on top can still remain on top unless someone with some serious skills comes along. It just gives an acheivable target rather than 20 silly high scores nobody can compete with.
Its the age old question again, yet in a different form, why should therich have more than the poor? Yes I know I may be explianing this in some form of political terms but its the only way I know how. I spent ages trying to get my top score and then I want to defend it, as much as I suppose the rich want to defend their wealth, yet everyone knows the poor, or I guess the lower score people want a chane to be able to gainsuch riches. Yes I know its a kinda lame explanation but really You should either reset them all so everyone is equal or do nothing at all.

i think its a good idea what they are doing i mean it is only fair and as harley said what with the community growing and members moving on form ryl it will give everyone an equal chance at being in the top 20
