Mixing drugs

Hiya, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but as it involves drugs I thought this was the best place for it.
I've been on the anti depressant citalopram for a bit over a month now and have been completely sober the whole time, however I've got a night out coming up soon and even though I'm going to try not to, I'll probably end taking drugs. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of what happens if you mix anti depressants like this with other drugs like ecstacy, speed or coke?
I really am going to try not to do any drugs but I want to know what to expect if I do end up doing something. I'm getting a bit paranoid that I'll have a heart attack and die or something...

im on lamotrigine(mood stabaliser), and arirpiprazole(anti-psych) and i take speed, ecstacy and cannabis. i dont take my meds when i take em. my dr says it can be really dangerous and interefer. they **** ya mental health up too.

be honest with ure doctor.

Anti-Depressants and MDMA is a bad mix because both affect your serotonin levels. Many people report having to take a lot more of the drug to feel its effects because the SSRI is keeping the serotonin on a level. The MDMA can also render your medication ineffective.

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't know about asking my doctor about it...I don't think I could do it. Maybe I could ring up NHS direct or something. I heard the that SSRIs can make the drugs less effective but I suppose thats not a serious side effect really. I didn't know it could make the medication not work though or that it could be dangerous.

Have a look at the pharmacology stuff on erowid.org first - anything that affects your serotonin pathway is a bad idea when mixed with anti-depressant drugs.

Citalopram is an SSRI so it should be *SAFER* (not safe) than MAOI anti-depressants, which can basically be fatal when mixed with a lot of recreational drugs.

i agree with the above post if its a ssri your on it is safer however i still would seriously advise against it as it could prove harmful to yr physical or mental well being
