Once, I was in hospital for a reason unrelated to sh. I was being treated ok, the same as everyone else.
The next day when the shift changed a health care assistant came on duty and she helped me to wash. At that point she saw my arms and looked at me. She recognised me and said 'have i seen you before?' i replied that she may have seen me in a&e or on another ward. She switched straight away and started treating me horribly. I'm sure she went and gossiped about it with the other staff.

Later that day i was in excruciating pain, the most pain i ever ever experienced so i was shouting and crying. The nurses came over and told me to stop making so much noise as i was disturbing the other patients! I said i couldn't stop because the pain was too much, please could i have something for the pain? they told me to 'stop prentending to cry and being attention seeking'!! It was the worst experience ever i was seriously ill and because of my mental health history they thought they had the right to treat me like crap. Later on it was discovered that there was a reason as i had serious medical problems and the pain was real, i wasn't making it up.

I was going to make an official complaint, but i was so glad to be out of there when i got home that i just wanted to forget about it. Plus, i wasn't really mentally stable enough then to go through that.

Is that the kind of things you wanted to know? I have plenty of other experiences of being treated like crap in a&e after cutting or overdosing, but can't think of any specific ones right now.

Good luck with your article!
