Concentrating

OKay, i've completly lost it.
I can't read properly.
I want to reply to support posts but i just can't read them and absorb what's being said.

This is so frustrating, i can't study, i can't work, i can't read books.

I know i want to revise, i know i want As, i know i'll feel **** if i don't but there's something missing. The link that buts all that into making me concentrate.

Does this make any sense?

I was wondering if anyone else had the same thing or had ways to help it?
I mean, with revision and stuff i've tried 15mins of working and then a break but i get nothing done.
I feel so pathetic because i'm doing nothing and i can't even reply to posts on here.

That doesn't sound nice.. I feel sorry for you.. I could give you my eyes if it were possible..
though I don't know what to say really.. I have had that problem for a long time.. it have always went away after like 30 minutes.. so I don't know what it is to have it for long.. but it can't be nice!
Take care hun!
Can you ask this about your doc?

I find when I get stressed I find it much harder to focus, although irritatingly those times tend to be the times I need to focus the most... Maybe you're experiencing a similar thing.

I know it sounds really lame, but I use this simple meditation trick to try and focus, and it usually works for me. The idea is to try and completely clear your mind of anything, thus allowing you to meditate without worrying about the outside world... I usually just do it until my mind feels at peace, and it really helps my concentration. It's really simple:
  • Relax, sit/stand/lie in a comfortable position in a comfortable and quiet place. Close your eyes.
  • Breathe in, picturing the number 1 as it looks
  • Breathe out, imagining the sound of the word one
  • Do this, counting up to 10, then start again.
The idea is to concentrate really hard on the number. Don't worry if it doesn't work for you straight away, it is a really tough thing to do, and it might not work for you at all, but that's what I do when I can't focus.

If you really can't concentrate at all, sometimes it's best just to give up for a bit and not worry to much... Go and do something you enjoy, have a walk, do some exercise and try not to worry about anything for a while, try and refresh yourself!

I hope this post was useful, good luck!

Thanks for the replies.
I will try that meditating thing lawrie.

I would talk to my doc but it seems so pathetic and it seems to have got worse with me taking my meds (prozac) so it may just be a consequence of that.

I know what you mean, I have terrible times concentrating. I just can't do it. If I'm faced with something long to read, either I just skim read it, or ignore it altogether, because I know I won't be able to properly read it

EDIT: As for revision, why don't you try copying stuff like equations (if it's maths, or science you're doing), and all the important facts you need to memorise, but using different colours? If someone's trying to memorise something and it's all one colour, it's boring, and you won't remember much of it. Colours stimulate the brain more, so revision will be much more effective. I hope this helps :)

Good advice above.
Some days I just can't concentrate on anything and don't feel like doing school work. So I have to fight with myself in order to get things done. I usually try to take a nap and then wake up hopefully to be able to focus.
