As our dear Majesty died late last year the former Prince Charles is now going to be crowned King tomorrow alongside his wife.
I was wondering if anyone was planning on holding their own celebrations? Or are you being glued to the telly all weekend? Is anyone here planning to go to London? Or alternatively like me trying their best to avoid it?
For those outside the UK is it being covered in your media? Are you even aware that there's going to be an coronation?
Interested to know people's plans hence the post.

I am not a monarchist really.but not a republican completely anti monarchy person either. Mostly kind of indifferent to the royal family.
I am considering watching the ceremony just for the pagentary of it all. Some of the customs are really old and I am interested from a historical perspective. But I might just watch some clips afterwards. Not planning on watching any processions or any other coverage.
So am I Lindsay. I have a mh issue with Charles which has been going on since 2006. So I would find it not good for my mh if i were to watch it. I plan to watch some dvds instead of the Coronation. Thankfully the tv coverage isn't like the Queens funeral and most channels are showing their normal Saturday programming.
For those of you who wish to want to watch/avoid it, the coverage starts at 7 am until 3 pm on both itv (and stv) and bbc 1. Bbc 2 has a signed service. The BBC has a King Charles program at 5.15 and a further programme at 7 pm on bbc 1. That's on the Saturday.

I won't sit down and watch it, I don't have the attention span, but I might have the TV on in the background. My mum googled the cost of the Coronation and apparently it is more than payed for just by TV coverage!
I would say I'm a republican although I don't have a lot of energy to spend on caring too much! I won't be watching, I'll probably be getting out for a walk on the beach and hoping it'll be quieter if people are watching it! I will also be enjoying the bank holiday on Monday!
Avoiding it and planning other ways to spend your time is a good call if it's likely to be detrimental to your mental health.

It'll get better. Until then, have a day."
I'm in the US. I'm very aware of it because Badminton Horse Trial has had to shift their entire schedule around due to it which is incredibly annoying. But I think if Badminton weren't also this weekend I wouldn't have heard or cared about it at all.
That said between the time difference and cost I can't watch the live stream anyways. But it's still messing up their schedule.
No clue if it's a thing or anyone cares about it here otherwise.
Please do not give me virtual hugs unless you are only using the hug function on threads. Thanks.
You can't always keep it separate.
This is happening, this is part of you.
I guess I'm the only person who is going to watch it then...
I'm working all weekend but plan to rush around tomorrow so I can get back home to watch the majority of it on tv, then work has organised an event/gathering/fun activities/food thing in the afternoon and evening so I'm gonna go to that. I'm also hoping the flypast won't be cancelled because of the weather because the Red Arrows are meant to be flying over us on their way out of London. I saw some coverage of it on tv today for the first time and now I'm strangely excited.
I am planning to watch ceremony if I am awake in time. But not the whole thing. Enjoy the pagentary and the party NP. And I hope you do get to see the red arrows it's so cool when you do see them.
I am not sure but the late Prince Philip was a Prince Consort too.
