Triggering (SI) - why does it make a difference?
I know there was a question similar to this recently but i think mine is slightly different.
I know that a lot of people have a particular place that they like to self harm (i know i do). Im really struggling with this at the moment cuz it's hard to hide my arms all the time and nobody knows that i've started cutting again. I've tried cutting other places and it's just not the same and i'm finding it really really hard not to cut in my usual place.
The thing is i'm wondering why this is? Is this the same for anyone else? It's really bugging me, cuz i can't see why there should be any difference? Does anyone have any ideas?

I know exactly what you mean. I had a preference too but couldnt do it where I wanted to because it wasnt easy to hide. I not sure why it matters where we do it, but it does. Maybe it's because different parts of the body are more sensitive then others. Maybe its convenience and that we can see it whenever we want, Im not sure.

Hi, yer the same thing happened to me i was doing a college course which involved wearing short-sleves, i tryed to stop but, you know i slipped up once or twice. And self-harmed some where else but it didn't see to have the same effect. Sorry but i don't know why this is, was wondering myself, just thought i would let you know that your not the only one. Hugs.

Yeah, I go through the same thing, but I think part of it was me not wanting the scars to spread so I just stuck to a single 2 inch section of my left wrist, sometimes letting that extend onto the back of my hand or my fingers, it grew to the point where I couldnt see skin, but I always just did it there

never let it stop you. never let them tell you you can't do it, because every moment you fight you're winning a battle. never let the set backs stop you. when you're hurt, when you're tired? keep going. don't give up.

I’m not really sure about this myself, and have wonder about this many times. I have to agree with smileemptysoul, for me it may have a lot to do with seeing the result of my self injury any time I want. I know I’ve switched to a few different places but I’ve ended up returning to my arms.
I’ve also noticed the less blood, the less soothed I feel afterwards. My arms is one place I know of to get the best results. But really I wish I could help you out here -- but I’m just as stumped as everyone else

It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what.

I lock myself inside these walls
'Cause out there I'm always wrong
I don't think I'm gonna make it.
