Quite literally a weight off my mind! :)

The picture pretty much says it all - that's what's left of the 24" of hair I've just had lopped off!

Half my female friends will now be rejoicing while the other half will want to string me up for it! I'm sorry Erin but it had to be done.

I'll post a pic of what it looks like when I've had time to style it properly.

This is the 'before'. A few months before to be precise, so it was even longer than in the photo.

Believe it or not today was the first real opportunity I've had to do it.

dom are you one of these guys who grows his hair coz he cba to get it cut? it looks good, i like long hair but it can get too much. at least you can be in and out of the shower now, takes only a few secs to wash and will dry naturally a lot quicker.

less time styling too... dear dear what are you going to do to fill up the rest of your 5hr beauty regime?

Ten times longer to style now actually, and it takes a skip load of products to do so - all I had to do before was brush and tie it back. Although that only took a few seconds, it was balanced out by taking over an hour to wash and dry.

I never actually meant for it to get quite that long. I either never found the opportunity to get it cut or something happened to push it down the priority list. As you can see, that went on for quite some time...

"Galoot" is an old word used in Scotland that means a person with an ungainly, cumbersome, and clumsy personality (eg. "ouch! ...ya big galoot, watch where yer goin' !" )
'Galoot' is a word used by the cartoon character Yosemite Sam - he frequently refers to Bugs Bunny as a 'idjut lop-eared galoot'.

Within Internet-based woodworking communities, a galoot is a handtool aficionado, specifically old handtools (antique tools). This is contrasted with users of any hand tools who are called neanderthals in a number of internet woodworking communities. For many, the two terms are interchangeable. In this context, a galoot or neanderthal is one who hunts used hand tools and/or insists on using hand tools in preference to power tools, especially hand planes. Galoots may also champion tools that others would consider a lost cause, lovingly restoring a rusted or damaged tool by sanding, scraping, lapping, or using electrolysis to remove rust and repairing or replacing parts required to restore the tool to a usable state.
The galoot community includes, but is not restricted to, collectors of old tools. The only qualification for being a galoot is a love of hand tools (especially older hand tools) and a willingness to admit that this love may seem odd or unexplainable to others. By extension, galoots are often interested in old methods of achieving wood or metal work. For example, it is not uncommon for a galoot to create a replacement tool handle with a spokeshave, to resaw a plank with a frame saw, or even to forge and temper his or her own chisels.
Many galoots hold Roy Underhill, of the PBS series The Woodwright's Shop, in extremely high regard and may refer to him with the shorthand "St. Roy".

Galoot is a left-recursive acronym which means "Galoots are lovers of old tools". alternate definition; "Gregarious Association of Lovers Of Old Tools"
The Galoots are also a band from Fort Lauderdale, FL

^^^Stolen from Wiki :)

Anyway, Dom you look all old and respectable now. :P

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.
