The effects found with other psychiatric medications are rarely experience while taking remeron. This includes confusion, lack of coordination, and memory loss. Now, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. And of course, as with many AD's, there is a risk that it just doesn't work at aiding your depression or anxieties. So you mix the anticholinergic effect of memory loss with your pre-existing depression/anxiety, and you get a pretty dangerous combination.
Now, here's another personal issue I have with this medication. While I did not have the blackouts, I had horrible nightmares. The first night I took this medication [for sleep, may I add] I had such a grotesque and vivid nightmare that it woke me straight up and I refused to sleep again that night. I found a connection between these nightmares being caused by any kind of antihistamine drug, which is what Remeron is used for sometimes. I of course did not know this, but I had the same experience with Vistaril [a drug that can be used for psychiatric issues, but rarely], which is another antihistamine. Perhaps you have an ill antihistamine tolerance like I do, and it could be also what's making you sick and dizzy.
I also wanted to ask if you are or have ever been diagnosed with any form of mood disorder such as Bipolar disorder. Another short personal story, I apologize. But within the second day of taking Remeron, I was thrown into the longest manic episode of my life, and while it was not situationally severe as the past ones, the Remeron did trigger it. These manias happen with a lot of the SSRI ADs with similar chemical make-ups as Remeron.
Off topic: Another drug that triggers mania in a lot of cases is Effexor. I always joked and said that if a doctor wants to find out if you are Bipolar, just let them put you on Effexor, and you'll find out pretty damn quick, haha. It happened to me, as well as many others. Triggered very violent manias.
So, I wouldn't discount the issues happening to you concerning Remeron to be completely rare. Some people like me just can't take antihistamines due to severe side effects, mainly increased bad symptoms which were supposed to be helped by the medication in the first place. Just call your doctor soon and explain the situation. I'm sure that this may not be the first time they've seen this.
