No money for therapy or meds? Feeling lost

So my anxiety has become unbearable I can't go a day strict being anxious or on Edgar of a panic attack. I can't eat sleep and my thoughts are so miserable. I can feel my anxiety gone for a minute but then my depression strikes causing me to have anxiety and fear of never being happy. Also I developed an extreme fear of being left alone somewhere. Ima cared if being in a room all by myself. My emotion are out of control. I'm only 18. I'm trying to seek alternatives. By going out more but I can't always be outside but sometimes it's unbearable to be alone. I feel alone and extreme anxious when at night when everyone's asleep and I'm alone with my thoughts. I have derealzation which worse. So today I went to therapy. They charged me $190 just to talk and let out my thoughts and to see what treatmeant I should be in. I was gonna do cognitive behavior therapy but I guess not anymore because my mom doesn't have money and she cancelled it. So I'm stuck with anxiety and depression with no therapy or medication. Is there anyway I can recieve therapy for free? I jsut feel so lost and alone and things don't feel the same anymore. I feel emotions and my heart races all day because of anxiety. I was looking at seratonin supplements my mom has. Do you think that'll help me? Someone please help asap. I need some advice on how to cope with this.

Hi, I don't know what health care system you are working with- but if you cannot afford the $190 fee maybe ask that same person for a referral to a free or reduced fee service. Some places have what they call a "sliding scale" for persons who find it difficult to pay to get the same services at a reduced price. I am sorry they did not tell you about the fee before you had the session, and that your mum cancelled the referral.
Did they recommend CBT or did you think it would help? Definitely let them know about the challenges re paying and see if they can assist.

I would not advise taking any medication without medical advice from a doctor. Some side effects can be really dangerous.
Although GP/PCPs are not experts in psychiatric issues and medication- it is still better to see them instead of self medicating. Do you have a regular doctor?
If things get really bad, it is best to go to the emergency room if you feel unsafe.

Don't give up. Look for drop in centres/ clinics and support groups for depression or anxiety that might be offered in your area too.

it’s not working for polar bears
