Opinions
I'm curious, what are your opinions on having your case manager, therapist and psychs personal phone number? Texting or calling? Do you think it's okay or do you think it crosses a boundary? I personally think it depends on the person. I have my case manager and my psychs number and I think it's okay because my case manager is required to clock in for ever text she sends and we rarely text outside of her office hours and with my psych, we only text whenever it has to do with medical issues or if my case manager is not available and something comes up (especially since I am going through some difficult times right now) and they want to keep me safe. If there is a major crisis, they obviously notify the proper people and I know that if I need an immediate response I can try texting or calling them but if they don't respond, I am to call the afterhours line to get in touch with the on call therapist. I know that having my case managers number helps a lot when I am at work and need help getting through whenever I am having panic issues
What do you all think? Should people not having numbers because it is their personal time? Or is it okay because they have the option of responding or not?

I think you make a good point that your emails get scanned into your chart. It's hard to do that with personal texts. I think in my situation it is very clear that these people are not my friends, they are my treatment team and we don't send texts saying "hey, how was your day?" or "hey, what are you up to?" They are texts saying things like "did your heart doctor contact you today to verify what they want me to do with your seroquel since the hospital asked you to contact both of us to see at what rate you need to come of off it since it's causing the long qt?" I feel that is an appropriate text message for a professional to send since it is for a very clear reason and has a specific purpose that needs to be met, but yes, I think having a way to have it put in the chart is probably something that needs to happen. Probably just them summarizing the conversation at least. Good point

Yeah, I had to sign something about electronic communication when I first started going there, it applied to all forms of electronic communication with all of the people I see in that company

I think it's very much on a case by case basis. I don't have my CPN's mobile number which has never caused me problems except it would be handy when I have to rearrange/alter an appointment and she's out of the office so can't reach her that way.

I have had work mobile numbers for people so I can rearrange appointments etc but never personal numbers. I personally would go with not to use any numbers like that unless they go if you need anything contact me using X number or if I have asked if I can contact them on a particular number.
