News - Marieke Vervoort

I don't know if anyone's heard of her, but she's a Belgian who won a Silver medal at the Paralympic games in Rio.

The following content has been hidden - Reason : potentially triggering
She's probably going to die in a euthanasia clinic in Belgium (it's legal over there now), she's in constant pain.

I've had a toothache for a while, it's caused me discomfort for a while, but a least I can go to the dentist, get it fixed, which I will.

I hope you can research her story on the net, she's a very brave woman, I don't know how she's been able to cope with her physical pain for so long, & how she managed to win a medal.

I couldn't have done that if it happened to me (her disease) does make me think that euthanasia clinics should be everywhere in the world.

It's a difficult one, because there are risks associated with legalising euthanasia, but in principle I agree with you. However, despite overwhelming public support, the government voted against legalising assisted dying almost exactly a year ago, so having similar provision here in the UK is most likely a long way off.

No other sadness in the world would do
