Ambidexterity

Just curious.. Are you ambidextrous or know of anyone who is? Reports have shown that less than 1% of the world population is ambidextrous and I haven't come across anyone else who is ( yes, I'm actually ambidextrous ). I didn't train myself to become ambidextrous but only really realized it in 3rd grade

Yes I am. I am more left dominant but can use my right hand to write aswell and do a lot of non writing stuff with my right hand. Are you more of a leftie or a rightie?

I'd say that I'm more of a rightie because I usually write with my right hand due to convenience but I have no problem doing so with my left. I tend to do most non-writing stuff with my left hand though

How old is third grade? Had you been writing with both hands and then noticed that this was unusual, or did you always write with your right hand up until then? I find handedness very interesting, hence the questions!

(I'm not ambidextrous btw).

I'm mostly right hand dominant but some times I have a left handed days where my left hand dominates! I can do most things with either hand. When writing notes I often use both hands with a different colour pen in each

I echo my question above to you!

I'm now questioning how I even know that I'm left-handed- how much of it is that I was born left-handed and how much is it because I've always done things with my left hand, which has given it more practise at things, making it stronger and more agile.

I'm not sure. I think it was first noticed in reception class when I would colour with both hands. I was taught to write right handed but writing with my left comes fairly naturally too. I mostly go with which ever hand is the most convenient and don't always realise when I have swapped. I played the recorder the wrong way around for years before I noticed.

I can write with my left hand but it makes my brain itch.

By nature a righty, I've acquired ambidexterity to some degree. It began with learning to paint and gradually using my left hand a lot. I can now write with my left hand but if I had to write a note in haste my right hand is still way ahead

That's so cool! Though with regards to recorder, I do wonder how you ever played an E flat (or A flat if you were playing treble!) holding it that way round!

I am a leftie but was forced to use my right hand for quite some time as a kid but then i gave up because it was incredibly hard.

You have to do everything you can. You have to work your hardest. And if you do, if you stay positive, then you have a shot at a silver lining

I was when little but most people were using their right so I did the same and ended up right handed.

9 years old! I hadn't been writing with both hands before that because I was taught to only write with my right.

My handwriting is significantly different depending on which hand I use to write with though - but both are still legible

I was always a 'righty' for writing, drawing, hitting things in sports, masturbation etc.

Somewhere along the line, without explanation, I suddenly became a lefty masturbator
