Hi there, we haven't chatted before - so - Hi!! Louise, 24, usually post in the vets forum!!
Yeah I've found bio oil can definitely help reduce scarring, but it depends how bad they are. Make up usually helps, concealer can hide quite a bit or bracelets / wristbands etc.
If your hubby doesn't know, is there anyone supporting you with you SH? Would hate to think you're on your own with this. PM or email me anytime, am always available to talk and care very much.

hey another question about bio-oil - how soon is it safe to put on a stitched cut? soon as the stitches come out? sooner? later? just wondering. i need to get this newest cut faded fast since none of my family can know about it, or my friends really for that matter.ty.
les.

Hiya, I was in a car crash recently and my friend got a big cut that needed 30ish stitches so she asked the doctors about bio oil. They said that it is only for use on fully healed scars and that she could start using it in about a year. Up until then she was advised just to use vaseline or a normal moisturiser on the scar as this would have the same effect as anything else at this point. Hope that info is helpful!

One of the big things with it is not to use it too soon - ie. when the wound hasn't totally formed a scar. In wounds that are still open it can cause irritation which can actually make scars worse.

I would recommend it. I use it all the time, though only when the cuts have healed properly. It really helped me with my confidence too

Bio oil is expensive but works. Apply everyday for 2 weeks and you will see a very big reduction.
Cocoa butter is a cheaper, more natural option, works about the same time- apply every night for best results.

is it safe to put cocoa butter on a scar as soon as you get your stitches out or should you wait?
