Issue with mental health team.

Iam not sure what is going on, and I wouldn't mind some other opinions. A brief history.though it's far more complicated, I live next to a neighbour dealing drugs who plays loud music, Before christmas it got too much after I confronted him and he threatened to get me beaten up.

I went to a place and tried several times to throw myself off ,when I couldn't I stood on one leg for some time. In the end the police got me away. The police were great, as was the CPN I saw at the police station.

I get home see the crisis team, and was referred to the 'first response team',this is where things start to go wrong. They basically forgot me.I got into another state and the crisis team had to get involved several weeks later to get me an emergency appointment with a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist had to chase up my keyworker apparently I had had one several days after I got back from the place yet he hadn't got in contact.

So I had this keyworker a social worker who was okay when I saw him,but he constantly missed appointments and somehow messed up my psychology referral so I ended up having to be re referred . Then several weeks back they decided to discharge me back to GP. I hadn't had my meds reviewed ,nothing, hadn't seen a psychiatrist since february, and they just discharged me,By chance my neighbour had got worse again, I had other issues going on in my life with my parents that was causing this severe anxiety again.

I had also that week seen a psychologist for the first time for an assessment who I thought completely dismissed what I had been saying , but told me he wanted to see me again. Well it's hard to explain but all my anxiety just got too much and I wanted to die. I had been planning for several months to take a load of pills I had stored up and travel somewhere away from this town, and kill myself again. It's not just present day stress,I have a lot of memories from my childhood that cause my constant suicidal thoughts which Iam supposed to be having therapy for.

Well I basicallly sent him an email late at night saying'I am cancelling the appointment and explained why it wasn't just them discharging me, they were pretty rude and dismissive someone burst in the room at one point and told us all to leave'. I went into a lot in the email and just said stuff the lot of you and said I am sick of this existance and said Iam going to top myself . I didn't thinkhe would get the email till the morning he would be fast asleep, and I would be well away and I could finally end this terrible life. I couldn't sleep due to the drug dealing going on , I had had no sleep all week and I sleep on a mattress on the floor with a baseball bat with my door barricaded . The mental health team knew all this.

So I was amazed that I got a phone call in the early hours of the morning from him,he talked ot me for some time and made me promise to see him the next day .I did, he took one look at me, as I was in a state, and sent for the crisis team.

So the crisis team and him, referred me back to first response, saying the discharge was apparently 'too premature and no thought had gone into it'. The psychologist told me what he thought about it. He was pissed off. He isn't an ordninary psychologist ,he is some kind of high end doctor I notice the other staff seem to respect him. So the crisis team phoned me last monday and asked me to phone them on thursday so I knew who I had been allocated too. This I did, and it was very difficult as I find it very hard on the phone as I had too take my headphones off and I worry about the loud music. I did get upset on the phone because of all the stress, I was in the end put through to the first response team spoke to an unnamed person, a male who spoke to me for a white, seemed very patronising though perhaps that was my mental state, said he would phone me back after asking for my number and never did. My psychologist saw me the next day checked on the computer and no record was made of my phone call. He said he would chase it up ,heard nothing.

Since then I have heard nothing from the mental health team,it's been a week. Not that Iam sure I want anything to do with them, as can I be blamed when they do a discharge that was 'premature and no thought had gone into it'? Iam at a loss on what to do now I have no choice but to use them ,as I have no family ,no friends, nothing.I just don't see the point anymore.

You could complain about mental health services or go back to the GP and tell them you need mental health services

I am currently:

I feel great empathy for you in this situation, it almost mirrors my situation, I too have been discharged from services prematurely, on many occasions and it's taken a lot of shouting to get my voice heard and to finally get the services I was entitled to, please don't give up, I know it's hard, and you feel like your losing an unwindable battle, but you can get the help you need, you just have to shout loud enough, are there perhaps any charity organisations that can help you, Mind, Rethink, Sane etc.

Perhaps they could help by writing letters of support? Can the police not help with the drug dealer next door? you shouldn't have to fear for your safety, and sleep with a baseball bat next to your bed.

I'm not sure if you own your house or not, but if you're renting, perhaps you could move to somewhere you'd feel safer? I know not completely ideal, as you shouldn't have to move and leave the area where you have built at least a little support network, however perhaps from a safety point of view it may be something to consider.

If your renting maybe get letters of support, confirming your situation, from both the mental health charities, and a charity like shelter, along with letters of support from the mental health team and your GP if your able to get them, in a bid to be rehoused.

However be under no illusion that a lot of your problems will still be there no matter where you move, but at least the worry of the drug dealing and loud music will at least be a few less things to worry about.

Good luck, and I hope you finally get the support your so desperately in need of :)
