Quetiapine

I saw my physiatrist today and she gave me quetiapine. I'm worried as I've read all the side effects especially the weight gain as I'm. Already over weight.

Had anyone every had any experiences of this?

I've been on it for a few years now, factoring in me needing to gain a small amount of weight it has been weight neutral. I get more cravings for unhealthy foods during the first few weeks of a dose increase but my mood can cause those too.

In fact I think I was at a lower weight then I am now.

I did gain weight on quetiapine but I didn't eat healthily so it was a mix of things involved and not just the quetiapine. I am now eating healthier and have lost weight so i think it's fair to say that a healthy diet is important and how your body reacts to it will be individual.

I hope it helps!

I lost a very significant amount of weight whilst of Quetiapine. I was on a high dose and have been on many of the other new antipsychotics some of which I did have problems with appetite increase and weight gain. But I haven't had any issues with weight gain or increased appetite with quetiapine. I also have personally found it to be very helpful drug.

I do agree with others have said about making sure you are generally eating healthily. I hope it goes well for you
