CV's Folk , How do I go about making one? Do I have to put my MH History in it?
Do I have to put how long I've been unemployed in it? How do I , as a 35 year old who only can handle 2 ,2 hours shifts a week initially and has no clue and will NEVER touch a non Veggie Product start this process?

Thanks guys :)

Hi, I'm no expert with CVs but it might be worth looking up CV templates online. The National Careers Service website will probably have some (also if there's a NCS office near you they should be able to help you put one together - they aren't part of the Jobcentre).

You don't need to put your MH history on (I'd probably suggest you don't). Even if you've developed a lot of strong skills and relevant experience through MH it's sadly still a bit of a tricky one about putting it on there.

Put on things like voluntary work, training, education and interests. If you have any other experience like buying and selling online, or qualifications like ECDL, food hygiene etc. then put those on too.

Honestly, for many jobs you don't even need a CV, just follow the online application instructions carefully. (Though consider/contact any referees first). Some places will ask you to phone to register an interest - be aware they sometimes ask relevant questions over the phone

As far as jobs are concerned, it depends on the reasons why you're looking. If it's to get out of the house and work as a professional outside of the home/a social element, cleaning/housekeeping can be a good option. Few jobs offer so few hours but I've seen the odd ones that do, just keep an eye out.

If you want to work to increase skills and give meaning, perhaps look at setting up a little office/business at home. You could buy and sell items online, or sell a skill of your own through a website. With self-employed, make sure to get advice on the relevant DWP and HMRC rules.

There are quite a few different forms of a cv and which one would be more suited depends on your background and the jobs you are wanting to apply for.

If your work history is a bit patchy it might be worth looking at skills based cv. I would focus on what you can and want to do rather than what you can't.

A personal statement (just a paragraph) at the top might me be a good idea summarising your experience, skills and what type of work you are looking for. It's sometimes a good idea to alter your c.v depending on the job you're going for so its tailored to suit the requirements of the employers you're applying to. If you include an e-mail address in your contact details make sure it's appropriate. There are places like the above poster said that can help you out if needed.
