Schizoaffective and bipolar with psychosis

Can anyone tell me the difference?

My diagnosis swaps from schizoaffextive to bipolar with sever depression and psychosis a lot. Depending on the Dr.

I just wanted to know if there was a difference?

Just wanna understand it better.

Also anyone else get this?

Thanks.

Not really much difference. Some doctors just prefer different terms.

From what I understand the difference between schizoaffective and mood disorders is that the psychosis in schizoaffective is present outside of the mood episode. Maybe when they described at bipolar with psychosis they are saying that the psychosis is associated with the mood episode and when they say schizoaffective the mood aspects are less prominent relative to the psychosis.

Have you asked a member of your team this?

From what I have read the lines between the two can be blurred maybe it comes down to doctor preference? Depending on who I see my diagnosis get moved between bipolar to mood disorder to depression. Sometimes I think they go with what they can see in the moment rather than necessarily relying on notes from others.

Thanks I think this is the case. It usually depends on what Dr I see.
