Wound Care - not SH, but still slightly odd

On sunday I was walking around a garden centre and trod on a broken off piece of fencing. The end went into the top of my foot and it bled for a while but stopped. I put a plaster on it overnight and then yesterday it was all swollen and red.

My mum thinks theres a splinter in there, but it's too sore to put anything on. I've got a large surgical dressing over it, but is there anything else I can do??

does sound like there is sumat in it or a infection. basically keep it clean and if there is sumat in it soak ya foot in warm water to help the skin go softer and hopefuly the splinter may come out
