Here goes nothing

Hi my name is Ramona, I am from Utah and i'm 20 years old.
I stumbled a crossed this sight searching for a support group of some kind and I figured I would try the whole online thing. In addition to self-harm, specifically cutting, I also struggled with serve depression and have for about 6 years.
When that isn't consuming my life, I love to rock climb, hike, draw, and creatively write in a journal. I also enjoy knitting and reading more spiritually based books.
I joined this sight to find support, because a lot of the time I feel so alone in this fight and it would be nice to know i'm not the only one, the only one who struggles to stay alive, and the only one who for some strange reason finds reprieve and calming from self harm.

Hi there welcome to RYL :) I hope you that you find the website helpful, there are a lot of articles on the main site which you may find helpful, and there are lots of people here also struggling who are willing to offer advice and support if you ask for it. You are most certainly not alone.

Hi

It is not strange to be calmed by self harm. That is the appeal for many folks. The challenge is to find something non harmful to be calming. I have found some new non-harming habits, and some work better than others. For instance, I write lists of rhyming words. It is calming to me as well as distracting. I need to find something I can use when I am around other people, though.

You are also not the only person struggling to stay alive. I know that one well, and I can only say that, so far, I have succeeded.

Good luck to you.
