New psychiatrist appointment, making me angry and emotional
Really can't believe this, now I'm really getting annoyed, received a letter with an appointment to see the Psychiatrist, but they have really messed things up.
Today is exactly 4 weeks since I was 136'd and I was told I should be seen in a month, but the appointment isn't until January 26th 2016.
I also requested that it not be with the same Psychiatrist as I previously had, as I felt he wasn't helpful, and they've ignored that, as the appointment is with the same Psychiatrist.
Now I just feel like their wasting my time.
It's just over 10 miles away, and is scheduled for 09:30am, I'll have to leave on the 08:24 bus, meaning, I'll have to be up at 06:24 to get ready and walk the 1/2 a mile to the bus stop to get there in time.
My counsellor was gonna go with me, but considering he doesn't start work until 9:30am and works almost 30 miles away, I don't think it's gonna be possible for him to go with me, I don't want to cancel and have to wait longer, also if you cancel and re-arrange they just think your messing them around and get very shirty on the phone, I have no idea what to do now, I don't know if I can cope with waiting this long, let alone longer
It sounds like you have a good relationship with your counsellor. Would it be possible to ask him to rearrange this for you?
There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
I'm hoping he can re-arrange this for me, am hoping he's in work on Wednesday, when I go to Art group, I know he's off on Friday, so not holding my hopes up, I would usually have been seeing him this Friday, but he already let me know he's off, and that I won't see him until the 27th, unless I see him before when I go to Art group if he's in, I know the appointment is a fair way off, but the earlier it's dealt with the better, as just thinking about it is making me angry and emotional, I feel like ripping the letter up, but I can't as my counsellor will need to see it to re-arrange it.
Ange just took the words out of my mouth. If you can't see your councilor on Friday, when is your next appointment? Can you bring it up then?
If not, I'd suggest calling & explaining your circumstances just as you have here, tell them the journey it takes you, that you've previously requested a different psychiatrist & that the time, & date is unsuitable as you'd like your councilor there & you feel you need to be seen sooner. They shouldn't get annoyed with you for that, as they are valid, reasonable reasons.

I can bring it up on my appointment on the 27th, but would rather get it dealt with sooner, so if my counsellor is in work sooner, I'll try and get to see him just to discuss this or just pass a message on to him along with a photocopy of the letter, so he can re-arrange it on my behalf, for a date and time that suits him, as he'll probably pick me up and take me there, it was him who suggested he goes with me, so he'll be fine with me leaving it to him to sort out :)
I'm just trying to find a healthy way to deal with my anger surrounding it, I'm struggling to stick with my healthy coping strategies, I'm trying but even the coloured lights in a dark room are proving ineffective
I saw my counsellor today when I went to Art Group, showed him the letter and he's put it in his diary and is going with me, he's actually gonna pick me up, and go with me, so feeling much calmer now. I did explain to him, that I've also been really angry about it, because it's with the same Psychiatrist as I previously had, who I felt wasn't helpful. He said not to worry, he told me to relax, as this appointment isn't that important, it's the other appointment I get through with the spectrum disorder specialist that's important :)
So I have been focusing on my art today, and even managed to laugh on my way home, at some jokes being told by a girl on the bus, I think I made a new friend too :) something I haven't done in a while :)
