Going to Therapy again

So I've decided that I obviously cannot control my mental problems by myself, so I'm gonna go see a therapist. I'm really nervous about it. I was supposed to go today and I put it off. I relapsed last week about a year and a half of not cutting and I feel really shitty about it. I can't keep living like this. The mood swings and depression are driving me crazy. I just am scared to talk to someone. Last time I went to therapy I relapsed but my therapist was so happy with my progress that I lied to her and didn't tell her I had relapsed. Also, I didn't tell her everything I felt and I think I was mis-diagnosed because of it. Does anyone have advice on how to NOT lie to your therapist and trust them?

Trusting people takes a lot of time and effort, but I'd highly advise you go back to your therapist, and tell her that you weren't entirely honest, even if you feel you can't tell her everything, maybe you could write it down and give it to her to read, maybe if you include in the note that you are sorry and that you do have some trust issues, that is something she can work on with you specifically, please try not to beat yourself up about cutting, I wouldn't call it a relapse, just a slip up, everybody has a slip up once in a while, also don't feel bad that you lied to your therapist, I'm sure lots of people have lied to their therapists at some time, I know I have in the past, the best thing to learn from this is probably that lying has not helped you, and in fact has probably made you feel worse, it has also probably taught you that you need to work on your trust with your therapist more :) I hope you manage to see your therapist again and manage to be honest with her :) *hugs*

The therapist I lied to was 7 years ago and in a different state. I'm seeing a completely new therapist now. Should I mention my trust issues and that I lied in the past?

I would mention it to your new therapist, as at least then your new therapist can help you specifically with your trust issues, and may work for longer on building trust before going into anything deeper that requires a really trusting bond :)

Ugh, so I finally went to see a therapist and it turns out they don't take my insurance. So now I'm stuck starting all over and the whole thing is really depressing. I just want to feel better and it's like the universe is against that. Is there anyone here who lives in Indiana especially the Lafayette area that knows a good therapist? I'm getting desperate. My daughter is really whiny today and it's getting on my nerves. My mood swings are bad today and it all just feels like too much.
