Hello
I have had funding for inpatient treatment since September 2014, and I am still waiting. The CCG here in Lincoln have completely broken me down with the whole process. I am so low that I haven't eaten for a long time, I have to say I have lost all hope.
Can anyone please give me any information on any Therapeutic Community Psychiatric Hospitals in the UK, that treat Personality Disorders, PTSD, Self-harm and other mental health problems, with mixed therapy groups. I need help. Normally the hardest bit is getting funding for treatment, but finding a placement for me has become silly and soul destroying.
PLEASE HELP.
From Michael

Hi Michael,
Sorry that things have been rough. Have you got currently funding for a place (sorry it wasn't clear). Has your team suggested any places for you? I know there's a few therapeutic communities that treat pds such as the Cassel in Roehampton and the retreat in York. There are more.

Hey, I'd suggest The Cassel too. I could be wrong but I think the programme at The Retreat isfemale-only. They *might* have a new male unit too but I'm not at all sure about that.
Hi
Thanks for the reply's. The Cassel Unit is still open at the moment but, however, it doesn't really treat PTSD and has strange rules about going home. As for the Retreat York it has a mixed ward called The Hannah Mills Unit (rest of the wards are just for women). I have already been in The Retreat York, it didn't workout they promised a lot but I got very little treatment. Mostly a DBT unit, I couldn't get the trauma treatment I needed. I am not allowed to go into any Cygnet Hospitals this was decided by the CCG in Lincoln. I having funding for 1-2 years of treatment, however, what good is the money if I cannot find a placement.

I've heard fab things about the Cassel they were initially set up to work with shell shock patients I believe and work mainly with a psychodynamic model.
The funding is by NHS England as opposed to an individual ccg though it comes under west London mental health trust
Does your treatment team have anywhere in mind? What sort of things do you think need to be worked through?

Hello
Thank you all again for replies.
Random.swirls you are incorrect about The Cassel, it is simply what is left of the World Famous Henderson Hospital which was set up to work with shell shocked patients, initially, then became a therapeutic community psychiatric hospital. I was due to go to go into the Henderson Hospital for one year of treatment in 2007, but couldn't because my father was seriously ill, so I had to turn down the £138,000 placement. Unfortunately, it was closed around 2009 and that's when the Cassel took over, but it is a shadow of the former Hospital. My treatment team have no real idea where to send me apart from the North London Priory Hospital, but they charge £300,000 - £500,000 a year (completely over top and very unlikely this could ever be justified). But thank you for trying to help.
Auror, you are not being harsh I am not being offered any placement's, and studies show DBT doesn't help with PTSD or hearing voices. But thank you for trying to help.
Whirlpools, I have looked through the Association of Therapeutic Communities website, a lot of it is out of date, some of the units on the site are closed, the rest are not what my treatment team would consider. 10 Priory Hospital Hospitals have already turn me down. But thanks for trying to help.
Thank you all

Hello Auror
What am I looking for? Mostly trauma treatment. I was sexually abused as a young child, this pushed me into the world of serious self-harm. I was a Royal Marine, and picked up even more trauma fighting for this country. So I have become over the years complexly mentally ill. My so-called treatment team have advised I go into a Therapeutic Community Psychiatric Hospital which has mixed therapy groups (men and women together). With EMDR treatment and lots of Psychology impute. This is far more simple to talk about than to arrange, the specialist units I need are very thin on the ground. Having funding for my case makes no difference, finding a placement is the challenge.
I was hoping someone on this site had been in a unit they could recommend, well that was the idea.

Hi Michael, I'm not entirely sure how your funding works, it's a long shot but I found this, http://www.fiona-wilkinson-therapies...tTherapist.com, based at Great Northern House in Lincoln, however there are no mention of funding options, maybe this is something to mention to your team :)
Hi Stumpy
Thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate you taking the time out to give me various information.
I will look into some of the sites you have suggested.
However, I can do EMDR in my own town (Lincoln) in the community, getting EMDR is not the problem, its doing this sort of therapy safely. That's why I was given funding for an inpatient placement, because I have tried to do various therapies in the community in past, which have spectacularly gone wrong, my health and very life was put at risk (lots of injuries).
I need the support of staff, Psychology and Psychiatry impute, in a safe well run unit, to do the therapies I need.
Again thank you.

Hi Michael, I know it's a long way to travel, but as you say it's the safety that matters, and I think St Mary's Hospital (Kettering), would look after your safety very well, as their used to treating the Army troops stationed at Kettering who suffer PTSD etc, so definitely something to consider when your evaluating your options :)
