I just read this piece and found it interesting. Especially since I have recently decided to learn reiki (a hands on or off holistic healing practice) and so found it fitting to read this now and that they called mental illness the "birth of a healer"
It also made some good points regarding how people with MH issues are treated in the West compared to other parts of the world. Here we are a burden to most, too hard to deal with, over sensitive. Maybe if we all lived in places like India we would see our mental unwellness differently?
Has anyone on here suffering from the likes of schizophrenia ever tried a shamanic practice? Ive read about people overcoming addictions by taking part in one of these events! Now I'm just blown away thinking maybe we are looking in the wrong places for help....
I go back and fourth with spirituality a lot...mainly because the whole idea of universal consciousness is hard to wrap my brain around completely :D
Im not sure anyone on here will even be interested but I felt it was worth sharing. Imagine going to one of these events and leaving feeling completely free from our illnesses and maybe even enlightened..or worst case scenario you leave feeling the same as you did we you arrived there? Which would mean we really have nothing to lose by trying it out but everything to gain if they are correct!
Thats a nice thought to drift off to for a change :)
